The two men believed to be responsible for the brutal murder of a 50-year-old clerk at Trax Foods store in Kensington South were apprehended last week, thanks to an anonymous tip.

According to Officer Tanya Little, spokeswoman for the Philadelphia Police, after receiving an anonymous tip, police were led to an address along the 2000 block of Norwood Street in South Philadelphia, where, at about 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, officers arrested Quasheam Richburg — the 20 year-old man now charged with killing store clerk, Moustafa Shaker.

After the robbery, which occurred at around 3 a.m. on May 26 at the 24-hour convenience store at Front Street and Girard Avenue, police released surveillance footage that showed two men entering the store and demanding cash from the clerk.

One of the men was armed with a sawed-off shotgun.

When the clerk wasn’t seemingly responding fast enough for the two assailants, the man who police now believe to be Richburg raised the shotgun and fired twice, killing Shaker.

According to Officer Little, mere hours after Richburg was apprehended last week, the second man wanted for his suspected involvement, 17-year-old Marvell Hargrove, turned himself into police.

The police spokeswoman said both men have been charged with murder, aggravated assault, robbery and related offenses.

She did not comment on whether anyone would collect the $2,500 reward that had been issued for information leading to Richburg’s arrest.
