Philadelphia police are seeking the public’s help in a four-month-old car jacking that took place in Northern Liberties.

Police today released images and video of a man who brazenly assaulted a motorist on Delaware Avenue during the May 25 robbery.

According to police the incident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. as a vehicle sat idle near Front and Spring Garden streets. Officers said an assailant entered the passenger-side door and demanded the driver go to the adjacent Luke Oil Gas Station, where the man forced the victim to access the ATM machine.

When the banking machine appeared to be out of order, police said the unarmed attacker, described as a white man in his early 20s, returned to the vehicle and forced the victim to go to an ATM machine outside of Johnny Hots at 1234 Delaware Ave., where the victim withdrew about $60.

After the attack, the assailant fled on foot.

Police described the man has having a thin build, approximately 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with brown hair and a beard. At the time of the attack, he was wearing a white T-shirt and dark colored pants.

Police released surveillance video officials believe shows the wanted man in the midst of the assault. The video is available at www.phillypolice.com/news.

Law enforcement officials advise the public not to approach the individual.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Philadelphia Police Department’s anonymous tip line at 215–686–8477 (TIPS).
