Police are on the lookout for a man who walked into a Girard Avenue bank Wednesday and handed a teller a threatening note.

According to police spokeswoman Officer Jillian Russell, the crime occurred at around 12:45 p.m. on Oct. 12. A man believed to be in his 20s strode into the Hyperion Bank at 199 W. Girard Ave. in Kensington South and produced a note demanding cash from the bank teller.

After receiving an unspecified amount of money, the individual fled on foot.

Police described the suspect as a black or Hispanic male about 5 foot 7 inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds. At the time of the incident, the man was dressed in a brown hooded coat, black baseball hat and sunglasses.

Police released a photo of the wanted individual taken at the time of the robbery.

While Russell said the man did not produce a weapon, he is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who believes they have seen the individual is asked not to approach him and should call 9–1–1 immediately.

Anyone who recognizes this individual or may have information that could lead to an arrest is asked to contact the FBI and the Philadelphia Police Department’s Violent Crime Task Force at 215–418–4000.
