FREE HEALTH SCREENINGS

The Arab American CDC is holding a health fair on Nov. 4 from 12–4 p.m. at the Al-Aqsa Islamic Society (1501 Germantown Ave.) in collaboration with Jefferson medical students and Villanova nursing students. Free health screenings, flu shots and breast health exams will be provided.••

FISHTOWN ACTION MEETING

Please plan to attend this very important meeting Mon. Nov. 7 at 7 p.m., Holy Name Church Hall, Gaul and Berks streets. Guest speakers include Joe Martin from SugarHouse Casino to discuss doing business with SugarHouse and Marian Hull from PennDot. Hull will discuss sound barriers for I-95. If you live on the riverside please plan to attend this meeting as your input is needed.••

ST. LAURENTIUS FEST

St. Laurentius Parish announces its annual Holiday Festival to be held in the church hall on Sat., Nov. 5 from 2–7 p.m. Enjoy homemade Polish food and try your luck at games of chance. Bring your family, renew acquaintances and get a jump start on your holiday spirit. 1608 E. Berks St.••

DOG DAY IN THE PARK

Penn Treaty Park, Delaware and Columbia avenues, will host Dog Day in the Park Sat. Nov. 5 from 10–12. Raindate Nov. 12.

Dog treats will be provided but event is BYOW.••

LOVE YOUR PARK

Help finish painting the fence at Hancock Rec, the finishing touch needed to compliment the mural, benches and plantings recently completed by the Mural Arts Program. Volunteers will work Sat., Nov. 5, from 10–1. Hancock Park and Recreation Center, Master and Hancock streets.

BRIDESBURG HISTORIC MEETS

The next meeting of the Bridesburg Historical Society will be held on Weds., Nov. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in All Saints’ Marian Hall at the corner of Edgemont and Buckius streets. One of our favorite presenters, Rick Spector, of Moviehouse Productions, will get us ready for the holidays with a slide show of nostalgic images from Philadelphia. He is one of our favorites.
