Annual Italian Festival

Mother of Divine Grace in Port Richmond is holding its annual Italian Festival May 31 and June 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9 on the school grounds. Open at 4:30 p.m. with Italian dinners beginning in the school hall at 5 p.m. Food, games and a beer garden. Located at 2612 E. Monmouth St., at the corner of E. Cambria and E. Thompson streets. ••

PRCG Meeting

The Port Richmond Community group (PRCG) will meet Thursday, May 24 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady Help of Christians church on Allegheny Avenue at Gaul Street.

Topics are neighborhood updates, the impact of the I-95 construction project, parking concerns, use of sidewalks, and more. Complaint forms will be provided and forwarded to proper agencies. Please bring exact address. For info, email [email protected]. ••

PROPAC/ Port Rich. Town Watch to meet

The next meeting of the Port Richmond On Patrol and Civic and Port Richmond Town Watch will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29 at Samuel’s Recreation Center on Gaul & Tioga streets. ••

Fishtown preschool

Registration for the upcoming school year will be on Tuesday May 22 and Wednesday May 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fishtown Rec. center, 1202 E. Montgomery Ave.

Classes are held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon. All children must be able to attend to their own bathroom needs.

Angler Movement Studio classes

Beginning June 2, Angler Movement Arts Center’s new program, Angler Movement Studio, will offer classes in basic movement for both adults and children. AMS will offer continuous six-week sessions that can be paid for in advance ($80), or any class can be taken on a per class basis for a drop in rate of $15. ••

NLNA Board elections

The annual Northern Liberties Neighbors Association Board election will take place during the general meeting on Thursday, May 31, 7 p.m. at the Community Center on 3rd and Fairmount streets. There will be voting for president, treasurer, and six at-large board seats. You must be registered with the NLNA to vote in NLNA elections. Visit nlna.org for more info. ••

Budget Seminar

Emanuel United Church of Christ, along with the Philadelphia Credit Union, will offer a free seminar on budgeting and credit on Saturday, June 9 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the church. Emanuel UCC is located at 2628 Fillmore St. The seminar is free of charge and open to public. ••

Chief Tamanend Day at Penn Treaty Park

On May 26, from 11 a.m. to noon at Penn Treaty Park, located at Delaware Avenue and Marlborbugh Street, children, adults and families are invited to bring their bikes to the park, decorate them and ride paths in historic Penn Treaty Park. ••

FJORD on Frankford Ave.

The space at 2419 Frankford Avenue will become FJORD, a multi purpose art space. FJORD will contain workspace for up to eight artists, each with their own studio space. On the ground floor an exhibition space will open to the public during First Fridays. For event listings and more information, check out FJORD on Facebook. ••

Kinetic Sculpture Show

The Philadelphia Sculpture Gym will host a Kinetic Sculpture Show during the month of June! Kinetic sculptors are invited to submit work that has been used in a Kinetic Sculpture Derby. The works will be displayed (and could be offered for sale) during the month of June. Submissions are due May 23rd.

Our Lady of Ransom Catholic School invites you to mark its memorable moments with a Mass of Thanksgiving in celebration of the “Beacon of the Boulevard” Saturday, June 3 at 11 a.m. at the church, 6740 Roosevelt Blvd. Refreshments will be served after Mass and tours of the school will be conducted. ••

Observe Memorial Day

Memorial Day observances will be held at Washington Square, the Korean War Memorial, and the Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The noon event at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Front and Spruce streets on Monday, May 28 will also serve as the ‘kickoff’ for the 25th anniversary re-dedication ceremonies which will be held October 27 and 28 at the memorial. ••

Memorial Day Parade

The 2012 Port Richmond Memorial Day Parade begins at 10 a.m. May 28 in front of St. Adalbert’s R.C. Church on Allegheny Avenue. The parade concludes at Campbell Square Park with an official retiring of the American flag in the memorial garden at around 11:30 a.m. The Sounds of Liberty Barbershop Chorus will perform, parade Grand Marshall Raymond Hatcher of the United States Navy will be honored and The Friends of Campbell Square will be selling refreshments. ••
