Shots rang out in Northern Liberties Monday morning at the restaurant PYT in the Piazza at Schmidt’s, leaving one man dead.

Police spokeswoman, officer Jillian Russell, said police were called to the scene on Hancock Street at

Germantown Avenue at about 12:03 a.m. on Monday morning.

Police believe the incident occurred after an altercation.

Russell said that at that time, police found that Maurice Kimble of Upper Darby, who she said was 24 years old, had been shot twice, once in the chest and once in the groin.

Emergency response teams transported Kimble to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 2:40 a.m.

Officer Russell said that as of press time Monday, police had not yet made an arrest and she had no information on a possible suspect.

She also had no information on what might have started the altercation.••
