Wednesday, June 13

At the Reading Terminal Market (12th and Filbert streets) every Wednesday and Saturday starting at 10 a.m., there is a 75-minute walking tour that provides a sampling of some of Philly’s food favorites, like cheesesteaks, hoagies and pretzels.

Thursday, June 14

Enjoy Scratch Night at the Live Arts Studio! Artists will present some of their yet-unrealized and experimental performances. If you like the Philly Fringe Fest, here you’ll see some acts in their infancy and provide your support of the city’s artistic community.

Friday June 15

St. George Catholic Church, on Edgemont and Venango streets, will hold its annual summer bazaar June 14–16 starting at 6 p.m. each night. There will be games of chance, shopping, food, a moon bounce and a dunk tank. For questions, call 215–739–3102. ••

Saturday, June 16

Kick off the end of the school year and start of summer with Rock to the Future’s 1st Annual Rock the Block Party!

The event will take place June 16 from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. on the 2500 block of Trenton Avenue (St. Michael’s Church — Trenton Avenue between Cumberland Street and E. Firth St.).

Featuring live music from Jampa!, Rock to the Future, and more local musicians, meet local community organizations and local businesses, and support local artists and craft vendors!

This is a free, family-friendly event with something for everyone — food, games, and raffles! Bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the food pantry and help your fellow neighbors.

At 7 p.m. at Campbell Square park at Belgrade Street and Allegheny Avenue, Port Richmond encourages you to “wave ’em if you’re Polish!” with a performance by the Polish-American string band, Babushka Power! Join the celebration at the park, and hear the announcement of the winner of a Kindle Fire!

Tuesday, June 19

At the Port Richmond branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia (at 2987 Almond St.), the library is kicking off its Summer Reading Program.

It runs through August 10th, with different activities each day of the week.

On Tuesdays, it’s game day! Bring the kids to play a board game and meet new friends at the library from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The library will also give out weekly prizes to participants in its Summer Reading Game. Find out more at the library! ••

Wednesday, June 20

Also at the library (see above), The Philadelphia Eagles’ book mobile will visit at 10 a.m. The book mobile’s “Storybook Man” will read an exciting story and distribute a new, free book to all children.

Then, the library will have face painting at 11 a.m. followed by water ice and pretzels for all children who want to sign up for the library’s Summer Reading Game. ••
