Music and fireworks

Friends of Penn Treaty Park present musical act Fusebox June 30 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. followed by the Penn’s Landing fireworks, presented by the Penn Treaty Special Services District. The park is located at 1199 N. Delaware Ave. (at Columbia Avenue). ••

Roar at the Shore

Rock to the Future seeks students

After two successful years, Rock to the Future will again be expanding capacity for the 2012–2013 program year!

The program is free for participants (a $50 deposit is requested and returned upon program completion).

Students at Rock to the Future learn guitar, bass guitar, drums, or keyboard, form bands, write original music, and perform throughout the year at various community events and venues. Students also receive daily homework help to improve their grades.

The only requirements to apply are students must be ages 9–14 by September 1, must reside in Philadelphia, and must be lower-income and/or at-risk.

Rock to the Future is located at 2139 E. Cumberland Ave. Students attend Monday through Friday from directly after school until 6 p.m. To apply please visit www.RocktotheFuturePhilly.org or email [email protected] for more information. Applications are due July 31. ••

Penn Treaty Park movie

The Friends of Penn Treaty Park invite you to “Movie in the Park” night, on Tuesday, July 10 at 7 p.m., to see “A Dolphin Tale.” This film is rated PG, so bring the entire family to see this heartwarming story of Winter the dolphin. The park is located at 1199 N. Delaware Ave. ••

A Carribbean feast

The 8th annual Caribbean Feast will be held Saturday, July 14 from noon to 8 p.m. at 1338 Rising Sun Ave.

Hosted by the Peaches and Cream Foundation, this event brings food, praise dancers, a live reggae band, live DJ, water slide, moon bounce, kids’ workshops and more! Kids 12 and under eat free from noon until 3 p.m.

PAL selling Phillies tickets

The Police Athletic League of Philadelphia and the Junior Baseball Federation celebrate their 64th year of partnership in raising funds to support inner-city youth by making Phillies tickets available for purchase.

Forty percent of each ticket purchase is donated back to PAL. Tickets can be purchased at: PAL Headquarters, 2524 E. Clearfield St.

Monkiewicz events

Monkiewicz Playground is having open registration for summer camps for children ages 3 1/2 to 11.

Camps run through August 10, and after care is available. Monkiewicz also has a few spaces in its fall Tot Rec. program for ages 2 1/2 to 4 1/2.

AMS movement classes

Angler Movement Studio is offering classes in basic movement for both adults and children, as well as adult classes in African dance, ballet, Pilates, kickboxing, stretch, Tai Chi, and more. AMS will offer continuous six-week sessions that can be paid for in advance ($80), or any class can be taken on a per class basis for a drop in rate of $15.

Walking Fish shows

B. Someday Productions presents the final show of its season, Suburban Motel — two plays in repertory. The plays, Featuring Loretta and The End of Civilization will play through June 30 at the Walking Fish Theatre. Specific show dates and times listed online at www.walkingfishtheatre.com. Ticket prices are $20 for a single show and $30 for both.

Frank Glavin playground dance workshop

Broadway Dance is “steppin’” to the Frank Glavin playground, at 2600 E. Westmoreland St. this summer, with a special dance workshop patterned to Broadway performances.

This eight-week instructional program will be held weekly on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. through August 15 (no class July 4).

The course is designed for those 10 years old and older.

Program cost is $50. Students should have tap or jazz shoes and water. Class size will be limited, so registration in advance is required. Please contact the office at 215–685–9898. ••

Behind the screens

Teens, explore the exciting world of how movies are made! Learn about the magic behind filmmaking with hands-on creative projects. Please come into the Richmond Library at 2987 Almond St. to register for this six-week series of film education. Teen conference

The “My Life, My Future,” 10th-annual Teen Conference 2012 will be held Thursday, June 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Temple University Howard Gittis Student Center, 1755 N. 13th St.

The conference discussion topics range from self-esteem to relationship violence to building a successful future. There will also be great entertainment and plenty of giveaways. Lunch is provided.
