Carmella Tot Recreation

Carmella Tot Recreation Preschool, at 2150 Wakeling St., (at Worth Street) has available a preschool program for children ages 3 through 5. Class times are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $100 per month, plus a one-time $15 registration fee.

Troop 120 toy drive

Alexander Korn, a Life Scout of Boy Scout Troop 120, is organizing a toy drive for his Eagle Scout project. The toys will be collected, wrapped and delivered at Christmas to homeless children in the transitional housing complex Visitation Homes, at 2638 Kensington Ave.

Children’s ages are from 1 to 10. Anyone wishing to contribute toys can drop them off at 4536 Almond St., or call 215–289–2456 to arrange for pickup. Collection will run through Dec. 10. ••

Little Flower High show

Bridesburg Rec. photos

The center will be taking “angel photos” for $25 on November 5–8, but you must register in person at the center starting Thursday, Oct. 4, at 8 a.m. A $10 non-refundable deposit is required. The center is at 4601 Richmond St. ••

Searching for class of 1976

Did you live in Oxford Circle, Summerdale or Frankford in the early 70s? There is a reunion scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. at Finnigan’s Wake, 537 N. 3rd St. Go to Facebook and search, “St Martin of Tours Class of 1972.”

Bridesburg Rec. craft fair

Multifamily yard sale

On Oct. 6, beginning at 10 a.m., neighbors on the 1300 block of Eyre Street will host a community yard sale. Come check out toys, clothes, baby stuff, knick-knacks and more. ••

John J. Taylor’s Senior Expo

State Rep. John Taylor’s Senior Expo will be held Friday, Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cohox Recreation Center, Cedar and Cambria streets. The expo is a free, one-stop information fair for seniors and their families.

Taylor has been hosting this event for 27 years; this year over 700 area seniors are expected to attend.

Expect to see representatives from the Philadelphia Police Department, PECO, insurance companies, medical companies, veteran agencies and many others. Blood pressure and cholesterol tests will also be available, plus free massages.

Hetzel’s golf classic

Hetzel’s 3rd Annual Golf Classic will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, at Ramblewood Country Club in Mount Laurel, N.J.

St. Joan of Arc reunion

The church invites the class of 1962 to its 50th reunion on Sunday, Oct. 21. Mass will begin at noon at the church, located at 2025 E. Atlantic St. A dinner will follow until 5 p.m. at Casbah Caterers, located at Thompson and Tioga streets.

Fall sports at Shissler Rec

Applications now being accepted for fall sports at Shissler Recreation Center, including basketball for boys and girls ages 10 to 13 and men’s indoor soccer. Cost is $300 per team. Money is due by Nov. 9. Games will be played on Saturdays.

A women’s 19 & over indoor soccer league is also taking applictions. Cost is $300 per team, and must be paid by Oct. 26. Games will be played during the week.

Vietnam memorial tours

In honor of the 25th anniversary of the dedication of the Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Front and Spruce streets, free educational guided tours are being offered by the PVVM Fund.

Breast cancer awareness
