Mater Dolorosa “Night at the Races”

On Saturday, Nov. 3, celebrate the church’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Mater Dolorosa, at 1676 Ruan St., will host “Night at the Races,” at 6 p.m. at the church hall.

Admission, plus food and drink, is $10. Mass will be at 5 p.m. There is plenty of parking across from the church hall. Call the rectory at 215–535–4036 for tickets. ••

Pancake breakfast

The Bridesburg United Methodist Church is holding a pancake breakfast Nov. 3 from 8 to 10 a.m. Cost is $7 for adults, $4.50 for children. Call Joan at 215–941–8873 for tickets. The breakfast will be held at Applebee’s, 2535–37 Castor Ave. ••

Fisherman’s Flea Market

The Bridesburg Rec. Center, 4601 Richmond St., will be hosting its first annual Fisherman’s Flea Market on Saturday, Nov. 3, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Space is available for up to 30 vendors, and will be held in the gymnasium. A vendor’s space will be $25.

There will be no admission fee the day of the event, but there will be raffle tickets sold as well as food available for purchase.

For any questions, call the Bridesburg Rec. at 215–685–1247. Ask for John. All proceeds will go toward the benefit of youth summer programs at the Rec. Center. ••

Lithuanian Muge Festival

Come join friends and neighbors for two days of food, fun and festivities as they celebrate the 35th annual Lithuanian Muge Festival.

Featured entertainment includes folk music by “Varpelis” and folk dancing by “Zilvinas.” Lithuanian food, drink, crafts, textiles and jewelry will be available for purchase.

Activities include cooking demonstrations, raffles, folk dancing, children’s crafts and games and more. The festival takes place on Saturday, Nov. 3, and Sunday, Nov. 4, from noon to 6 p.m. Admission for adults is $5, children are free. The festival will take place at the Lithuanian Music Hall, 2715 E. Allegheny Ave. ••

MDG spaghetti supper

Join the Mother of Diving Grace Parish and school for its annual spaghetti supper on Sunday, Nov. 4 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the school hall, 2612 E. Monmouth St.

Cost for adults is $10, children are $5. Dinners in clued salad, bread and butter, spaghetti, meatballs, coffee and cake. Soda, water, beer and wine are extra. ••

Photos at Bridesburg Rec.

Limited slots remain to have “angel photos” taken at the Bridesburg Rec. Center from Monday through Thursday, Nov. 5–8.

Fishtown Action to meet

Join FACT for a special meeting Monday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. at Holy Name Church Hall, where Edward Vassallo from the Office of Emergency Management will address the FACT membership regarding emergency preparedness. Holy Name is located at 701 Gaul St. ••

Quit smoking program

The Bridesburg Rec. Center is hosting a smoking cessation program on Mondays beginning Nov. 5 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Registration is mandatory; call Jody at 888–736–6786. The program will offer free nicotine replacement supplies. The center is at 4601 Richmond St. ••

Christmas in November

The 31st annual St. John Cantius annual Chrismas Bazaar will be held Friday, Nov. 9, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 10, from 4 to 9 p.m. at 4435 Almond St.

Enjoy homemade Polish food, cake wheel, toys, sports items, gift basket auction, Christmas shop, raffles, pictures with Santa and more. ••

Franklin Towne Charter beef-and-beer

You’re invited to Franklin Towne Charter High School’s 10th annual beef-and-beer on Friday, Nov. 9 from 7 to 11 p.m. at Cannstatter Ballroom, 9130 Academy Rd.

Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.

Attendees can enjoy delicious food, beer, wine and live entertainment. There will also be a cash bar and 50/50 raffles, along with an auction, gift baskets and other prizes. ••

Canning workshop

Whether you’ve been thinking about learning to can or you’re well-versed in the ways of homemade jam, this class is for you. Philadelphia-based canning teacher, blogger and cookbook author Marisa McClellan will walk you through the basics of boiling water bath canning.

You’ll learn to make apple-cranberry jam and will go home with a jar. This class is from noon to 2 p.m. on Nov. 10 at the Greengrow Community Kitchen at St. Michael’s Church, 2139 E. St. Michael’s flea market

St. Timothy’s COGIC International and St. Michael’s Lutheran Church will be having a flea market on Saturday, Nov. 10, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Many gift items will be available to start your Christmas shopping early.

English conversation group

The Richmond Branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia is pleased to announce that it will be holding a “Basic English Conversation Group” starting Tuesday, Nov. 13.

Concilio workshops

Concilio presents free monthly workshops and one-on-one services, such as: “Building and Protecting Wealth,” which will instruct attendees on protecting and increasing assets as well as budgeting.
