If, like many other residents of Port Richmond, you’re in support of proposed senior housing at the vacant Nativity B.V.M. School, join your neighbors and elected officials on Saturday to make your voice heard.

Continuing with their widespread acts of support of the proposed income-qualified senior housing at the vacant Nativity B.V.M. School, Port Richmond neighbors have scheduled a support rally on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 3 p.m., at the school, Belgrade and E. Madison streets, on Campbell Square.

According to Port Richmond On Patrol and Civic president Ken Paul, representatives from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, as well as city councilmen Mark Squilla (D-1st dist.), Bobby Henon (D-6th dist.) and State Rep. John Taylor (R-177th dist.), will attend. Neighbors are encouraged to make signs and dress warmly.

PROPAC will have copies of the petition of support on hand; nearly 900 people have already signed the petition, which neighbors will send to the state Supreme Court in hopes it will hear the case of the proposal, which is currently stuck in the litigation process.

Calling the proposal a “worthwhile project,” Taylor said, “A neighborhood that stands united can bring the change that we need.”
