PROPAC/PRTW to meet
PROPAC (Port Richmond on Patrol and Civic) and PRTW (Port Richmond Town Watch) will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, March 7th. All meetings begin at 7 p.m. at Samuel’s Recreation Center, Gaul & Tioga Streets. Meetings are now held the first Thursday of every month. ••

Frank Glavin tot program
On Thursday, March 7, from 6 to 7 p.m., sign your child up for the Frank Glavin Playground’s tot program. All children must be able to handle their own bathroom needs; no pull-up diapers. For the 3-year-old class, child must be 3 by Dec. 31, 2013. For the 4-year-old class, child must be 4 by Dec. 31, 2013. Bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate and a $20 non-returnable fee that night, at the playground, Almond and Westmoreland streets. For more information, call 215–685–9898. ••

Get AVI help with NKCDC

Bridesburg Historical Society talk
The next meeting of the Bridesburg Historical Society will be held on Wednesday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m, at All Saints’ Marian Hall, on the northwest corner of Edgemont and Buckius streets. David Szewczyk will talk on the founding of the Frankford Arsenal in 1816 and its early decades up to the end of the Civil War. Admission is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Ladies of Port Richmond fundraiser
Join the Ladies of Port Richmond Friday, March 15 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. for a night of female empowerment, wellness, wine and cheese. A suggested donation to the event is $10; all proceeds go to LOPR. The event takes place at 3166–3168 Richmond St., and will also feature: chiropractic scans by Allegheny Chiropractic Wellness Center; yoga for breast cancer instruction by Breathing Room Yoga; blood pressure screenings by Nazareth Hospital; stress relief techniques by Denise Baron; nutrition information, massages and more. Easter candy at Bethesda United
Bethesda United Methodist Church, 2820 E. Venango St., will sell homemade Easter candy on Saturday, March 23, and Saturday, March 30, from 10 a.m. to noon at the church.
Candy for sale includes butter cream, coconut, peanut butter and chocolate Easter eggs, plus lollipops and chocolate ducks and lambs. Call 215–739–7399. Candy will be available for sale also on Monday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. ••

Easter Egg Hunt at Penn Treaty Park
The Friends of Penn Treaty Park is hosting an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, March 23 at 10 a.m., at Penn Treaty Park. Don’t forget to bring a basket or bag for your eggs. ••

Fishtown chili cook-off
The Fishtown Neighbors Association is hosting its third annual Chili Cook-off on Sunday, March 24, from 1 to 4 p.m. at 2424 Studios, 2424 E. York St. Ten amateur Fishtown contestants will be joined by entries from last year’ winners, Loco Pez, as well as Sketch Burger, Barcade, East Girard Gastropub, Interstate Drafthouse, Fishtown Tavern, Cedar Point Bar & Kitchen, Lloyd, and more. Beer generously provided by Philadelphia Brewing Company and Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company. Come and cast your vote for the best professional and people’s choice winner alongside Drew Lazor (preeminent food blogger), Wendy Rollins (Radio 104.5) and other surprise judges. Admission is $15, tickets can be purchased in advance (via Paypal at www.fishtown.org) or at the door. FNA pint glasses are available with advance purchase for only $3. A $10 ‘chili-only’ admission will be available at the door. ••

PAL Red Cross blood drive

Port Richmond Tigers sign-ups
Boys and girls ages 4 to 18 can sign up for tee ball, softball or baseball. Teams will fill up quickly, so sign-up now at the Tigers’ clubhouse, Chatham and Ann streets, Monday through Friday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. For more info, call the clubhouse at 215–423–7611. ••

Bridesburg Rec. events
The Bridesburg Recreation Center, 4625 Richmond St., will offer springtime, communion or graduation photos for families or individuals on March 12 and 13. If interested, call Jackie at 215–685–1247. The center will also host its 12th annual auction on Sunday, March 10. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and drawings start at 2 p.m. Entrance donation is $2, additional drawing tickets are 25 for $5. Zombies’ Baseball Club seeks players
The Zombies, a men’s baseball team that plays in the New Jersey Independent Baseball league, is looking for players 18 and over for the 2013 season. Games are played Sunday mornings in April and are nine innings using wood bats. Most of the current team comprises players from Fishtown, Port Richmond and the Northeast. Bridesburg Cougars cheerleading signups
