FNA updates/Meet the Neighbors

The Fishtown Neighbors Association’s June general membership meeting (previously scheduled for Thursday, June 20) is cancelled to encourage attendance at the FNA’s “Meet the Neighbors” event the next day, on Friday, June 21.

Join your Fishtown neighbors from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Garden Center, at Berks Street and Frankford Avenue. There is a suggested donation of $10 for drinks, food, raffles and more. ••

Book launch for local author

Kenneth W. Milano, author of “The Philadelphia Natavist Riots: Irish Kensington Erupts,” will host a talk and book signing on Thursday, June 20, beginning at 5:30 p.m., at St. Michael’s church, 2nd and Jefferson streets. The launch is sponsored by the church and History Press.

Port Richmond Tigers’ Flapjack Day

The Port Richmond Tigers are hosting a flapjack breakfast at Applebee’s in Port Richmond, 2535 Castor Ave., on Saturday, June 22 from 8 to 10 a.m. Come support your neighborhood kids.

Cost is $7 for adults, $5 for kids, for an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast and a beverage. For tickets or information call Tom Mack, 215–275–8838. ••

Cabaret fundraiser at Walking Fish

The Walking Fish Theatre is holding a season-ending cabaret fundraiser on Saturday, June 22, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 and include beverages. Performances include cabaret singing, burlesque numbers, comedy, classical musicians and more. Raffle will be held. Flapjack fundraiser for Autism Speaks

Come help support Autism Speaks and eat unlimited pancakes at the same time. Adults cost $7, kids cost $5. This fundraiser will take place on Saturday, June 22, from 8 to 10 a.m. at Applebee’s, 2501 Aramingo Ave. Enjoy unlimited pancakes, link sausage and a beverage.

Konrad Square flea market

The Friends of Konrad Square will host a flea market on June 22 at Tulip and Dauphin streets, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Anyone interested in renting a space should call Vicky, at 215–426–9654. ••

Zumba at Bridesburg Rec.

Enjoy a Zumba workout class for adults at the Bridesburg Rec., 4625 Richmond St., on Monday, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 8 p.m. The cost is $4 per class in an air-conditioned room. This class begins Monday, June 24 for the summer season. ••

Liberti church kids’ camp

Liberti church east will be hosting its sixth annual kids’ camp, “Life Nights,” four days of fun evenings where kids (6–12 years old) can come to liberti to do a craft, play a game, and do other activities.

Kids summer programs at Bridesburg Rec

Kinder Kamp begins June 25 for boys and girls aged 2, 3, and 4 years old as of Sept. 1, 2013. Camp is from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Cost: $110 for two four-week sessions.

Day camp/extended camp for boys and girls, kindergarten through 6th grade (younger than 12), will be offered from Monday, July 22 to Friday, August 16, Monday through Friday. Day camp: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., cost: $180. Extended camp; 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., cost: $180.

Music marathon at St. Jude’s

Fishtown Windowbox Contest

The 2013 Eva Rubin Memorial Window Box and Planter Contest is here. Sponsored by the FNA Beautification Committee, the Window Box and Planter Contest rewards Fishtown residents for their contributions to a greener city and gives them a chance to compete for prizes.

June programs at the Fishtown Library

The library, 1217 E. Montgomery Ave., is holding several events throughout June. On Thursday, June 20, from 4:15 to 6 p.m., enjoy the movie “Tangled.” For school-age students.

On Monday, June 24, from 2 to 3 p.m., visit the library for a basic yoga class for teens. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat or towel. For teenagers entering grades 7–12.

On Tuesday, June 25 from 2 to 3 p.m., join the library as it starts off its summer reading program with the Phillie Phanatic. Meet the Phanatic, sign up for summer reading, and enjoy prizes and special treats.

Fall hockey at Cione Playground

Cione Playground is now taking registration for the fall hockey leagues for players ages 9 through 17. A $10 registration fee includes a shirt, referee and trophy fees. Both roller and foot hockey are available.

Players are responsible for their own equipment and helmet. Registration continues until August 27 and league play will begin the week of September 9. There is also an adult division.

Hancock Rec. summer day camp

Hancock Recreation Center is currently accepting applications for its Summer Day Camp 2013, for ages 5 to 12. Camp will begin Monday, July 1 through August 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be served.

Games, arts and crafts, weekly trips, swimming and much more will be available. Registration fee is $25, and the full six-week camp is $150.
