SKCP to meet tonight
The South Kensington Community Partners will host a community zoning meeting tonight, July 24, beginning at 6:30 p.m., at 1301 N. 2nd. St.
The group will discuss a variance review of 1853 N. 2nd St. at that time. At 7 p.m., 1300–22 Palethorp St. will be discussed, along with 1208 N. 5th St. at 7:30, and 1201 Germantown Ave. at 8 p.m. All voters must bring proof of residence.
Community Zoning Meetings are typically held on the third Wednesday of the month. If you are interested in serving on the Zoning Committee, call 215–427–3463. ••
St. Anne’s produce vouchers
St. Anne’s Senior Center has been distributing produce vouchers through the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP.) Seniors will receive four $5 vouchers that will be valid until November 30, 2013. Your last chance to pick up vouchers is between the hours of 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. today. Port Richmond Community Group to meet
On Thursday, July 25 at 7 p.m., join the PRCG at Our Lady Help of Christians church hall, Allegheny Avenue and Gaul Street, for the monthly meeting. The group will discuss and vote on the Kintock Group moving its headquarters to 2121 Wheatsheaf Lane, as well as zoning issues at 3011 Witte St. and 2036 Castor Ave. John Taylor and Marc Collazzo will be in attendance. The 25th annual Sean Daily Tournament
The Port Richmond Tigers will sponsor the 25th annual Sean Daily Memorial Sports Tournament on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 26, 27 and 28. Featured events will include men’s and women’s softball, basketball, soccer (all ages) and women’s volleyball.

St. Adalbert Summer Bazaar
Everyone is invited to the St. Adalbert parish bazaar on Thursday, August 1, Friday, August 2 and Saturday, August 3, beginning at 6 p.m. each night on the parish grounds, Allegeheny Avenue and Thompson Street.
Join the community for fun, a flea mearket, Polish and Amerian foods, dancing, sweets and more. On Thursday, enjoy the Polish American String Band. On Friday, the Paging Samuel Band will entertain, and on Saturday, enjoy continental Polish music. The bazaar will take place rain or shine. ••
2nd Street Festival in August
Join neighbors in Northern Liberties for the annual 2nd Street Festival on August 4, between Green and Germantown avenues on 2nd Street, from noon until 10 p.m.
The event features restaurants and beer gardens, crafts, kids’ programs, workshops, green initiatives, and musical acts on four stages.
The event is free, but this year the festival is debuting a “Friends of the 2nd Street” ticket option, which will include open bar and food options, meet-and-greet with headlining musical artists, a special VIP viewing tent, a 2nd Street goodie bag, and more. River Wards Crimewatch night out
The Riverwards Crimewatch will be participating in a national night out for a crime free 19125 on Tuesday, August 6, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Hetzell Field in Fishtown, at Columbia and Thompson streets.
The event will feature representatives from the 26th Police District, as well as food trucks, kids’ activities, music, water ice, giveaways, SafeCam registration, bicycle registration, and information on other safety measures. ••
Penn Treaty Park events
The Friends of Penn Treaty Park rescheduled the rained-out July showing of “The Amazing Spider Man” for Friday, Sept. 13, at 6 p.m. in the park. Also, on Aug. 15, in the park, Walking Fish Theatre will host the Family Theatre Series, at 6 p.m. ••
St. Anne’s ‘Shore Thing’

The SugarHouse Casino and Philadelphia Mobile Food Association have teamed up again this year for the continuation of their Summer Food Truck Series.

Help out your local Girl Scouts
The Girl Scouts at Glavin Playground are excited to be attending the Disney World Youth Educational Series learning program in June 2014. The Parent Committee is coordinating fundraising events for the trip throughout the upcoming year.
For now, the Scouts are asking the community to save aluminum cans and other recyclable metals starting now through Saturday, August 17. Take your cans to Sullivan Recycling, 3361 Edgemont St., and mention that your recyclables are for the Girl Scout fundraiser at Glavin Playgound.
On Saturday, August 17, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., the Girl Scouts will be available at Sullivan Recycling to accept items. A percentage of all the funds raised will be earmarked to give to the Ronald McDonald House at St. Christopher’s Hospital, and to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
