Several Northern Liberties neighbors were displaced this past Sunday evening when a fire swept through 429 Green St. There were no injuries reported.

Philadelphia Fire Department Executive Fire Chief Richard Davison confirmed Monday by phone that the building was a four-story dwelling, and the fire started on the roof. The call came in at 8:19 p.m., and was placed under control by firefighters at 8:32 p.m.

At this time, there is no information about what caused the fire, Davison said.

CBS Philadelphia reported that officials say at least a dozen residents from the building are displaced at this time, and that the American Red Cross is responding to assist residents.

Northern Liberties resident Mary Wombacher Dankanis posted the photo of the fire shown above to the Northern Liberties Neighbors Facebook page Monday morning, along with the message:

“Very sad to see such damage to such beautiful homes — but sadder still are the residents who are now displaced. Long live our brave firemen — they really risked their lives on this one.” ••
