PROPAC to meet

PROPAC (Port Richmond on Patrol and Civic) will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, Sept. 5 at Samuel’s Recreation Center, 3501 Gaul St. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. On the agenda are two zoning issues, and updates on crime statistics from the 24th District Police Department. Councilman Mark Squilla will be in attendance along with representatives from Councilman Bobby Henon’s office. ••

Frank Glavin Girl Scouts car wash

The Girl Scout Troops at Frank Glaving Playground, 2600 Westmoreland St., will host a car wash on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to noon. Stop by and help the girls raise money to attend a youth education program in Disney World next year.

Refreshments will be available. Portions of all the group’s fundraising activities will also benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Ronald McDonald House at St. Christopher Hospital, and the Glavin Playground equipment upgrade fund. ••

St. Anne’s Coach bag bingo

St. Anne’s very first Coach bingo will take place on Sept. 7, at the social hall, 2616 E. Lehigh Ave., from doors open at 4 p.m., and games at 6 p.m. Cost is $30, which includes 12 bingo sheets. Bridesburg Rec. flea market

Konrad Square flea market

The Friends of Konrad Square will host a flea market on Sept. 7 and 21, at Konrad Square, Tulip and Dauphin streets, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will also be flea markets on Oct. 5 and 19. Anyone interested in renting a space should call Vicky at 215–426–9654. ••

Blessing of the Backpacks festival

On Sunday, Sept. 8, join in at Grace Church and the Incarnation, 2645 E. Venango St., to have your backpack blessed, receive a bag of school supplies, and go outside to enjoy free food, games and block party activities. The event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. ••

FACT to meet

Fishtown Action’s monthly membership meeting will take place Monday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m., at Holy Name of Jesus Church Hall. Get an update from PennDOT on the I-95 project and how the community will be affected. ••

Financial assistance workshop

Concilio will offer a free monthly workshop on Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. to help residents learn how to access the city’s cash grant for first-time homebuyers. The meeting will be at Concilio, 705 N. Franklin St. Dinner provided. Call to register: 215–627–3100. ••

Outdoor film at Penn Treaty Park

A family film screening will be held at Penn Treaty Park on Friday, Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. “The Amazing Spider Man” will be shown. Penn Treaty Park is located at Delaware Avenue and Marlborough Street. ••

Bethesda United penny party

Bethesda United Methodist church is having a penny party on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 1 to 3 p.m. Doors open at noon. Sixty tickets are $5, includes coffee, tea and cake. Hoagies and soda will be sold. Church address: 2820 E. Venango St., 215–739–7399. ••

Franklin Towne Charter pancake breakfast

The 3rd Annual Pancake Breakfast in support of Franklin Towne Charter High School’s Athletics Department will be held on Sept. 14, from 8 a.m. to noon. Cost: $5 for adults, $3 for children under 3 years old. Location: Franklin Towne Activity Center, 5301 Tacony St. ••

24th Police District Golf Outing

The 24th Police District Advisory Council is holding its first annual golf outing at the Juniata Golf Course on Friday, Sept. 20, with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Proceeds will go toward promoting programs that make the neighborhood a better and safer place to live. Entry fee is $75, includes golf cart, green fees, light breakfast and lunch. Pre-registration required. Location: Juniata Golf Course, 1391 E. Frank Glavin Playground updates

Glavin is accepting applications for grade school students to be enrolled in the “After School Cares” program. It is also offering Zumba classes on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $4 per class, payable on the night of instruction. The next flea market is planned for Saturday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A donation of $10 per set-up will be collected day of event. Vendors must supply their own table. Port Richmond CrossFit charity event

CrossFit Renaissance, 3668 Salmon St., will be hosting a charity event on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. A workout and a BBQ will be held, with all proceeds going to Steve’s Club, an organization that helps younger kids get off the streets through fitness. Civil War memorial unveiling

On Sunday, Sept. 29, a monument will be dedicated to the memory of the Willingmyre brothers, five Fishtown men who all fought in the Civil War. Two of the brothers died while fighting in the war for the Union. The monument will be unveiled at Palmer Cemetery, at Memphis and Palmer Streets. For more information, email [email protected]. ••

Acting class and fundraiser at Walking Fish Theatre
