Chemical site meeting

The NKCDC is coordinating a public meeting regarding the former Pathan Chemical Site located at 427–447 Moyer St. The site has been found to contain concentrations of lead in soil and 1,2-dichloroethane, 1,2-dichloropropane, trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene in groundwater.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 5 at 6:30 p.m. at Fishtown Recreation Center at 1202 E. Montgomery Ave. Relevant documents regarding the remediation of this property are available for public review at the Fishtown Community Branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia, 1217 E. Montgomery Ave. ••

Friends of Adaire

The newly-formed Friends of Adaire group, an association of parents, educators, and community members whose mission is to enrich the education of Alexander Adaire elementary school students, is holding its monthly meeting at the Fishtown Recreation Center on Wednesday, March 5, at 6:15 p.m. The agenda includes planning for the group’s school supplies donation campaign and a school beautification project. Tot Program Registration

Frank Glavin Playground, located at Almond and Westmoreland Streets, will be holding registration for their Tot Recreation program on Thursday, March 6 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. There is a $20 non-refundable fee. Children must be 3 years old by Dec. 31, 2014 to be eligible for the 3-year-old class, and 4 years old by Dec. 31, 2014 to be eligible for the 4-year-old class. PROPAC meeting

PROPAC’s monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, March, 6, at 7 p.m. at Samuels Recreation Center at Gaul and Tioga Streets. Zoning issues will be discussed, including a possible pharmacy at 2302 E. Allegheny Ave. and a possible 52-unit apartment development in an existing structure at 3560–3562 Sepviva St. Officer Tina Willis will discuss crime statistics and updates. ••

First Friday

Above Reason, a new collection of oil paintings by Philadelphia-born artist Richard Gabriele, is on view at Artspace Liberti, 2424 East York St. The artist will host a reception on Friday, March 7, from 6 to 9 p.m. to celebrate his first solo show in his hometown.

An collection of black-and-white street photography by Meredith Kleiber will be on view for the month of March at Cook & Shaker, 2301 E. Albert St. There will be a First Friday reception on March 7 from 5 to 11 p.m., which will feature raffles and a firkin from Fegley Brew Works. ••

Music from the Middle East

Fishtown Community Library, 1217 E. Montgomery Ave., will host All Around This World: Music From the Middle East on Friday, March 7, at 10:30 a.m. Small children and their caregivers will explore rhythms and melodies from the Middle East and other cultures in a fun-filled and participatory way. Cione Playground fundraisers

Texas Hold’em will be held on Friday, March 7 at 7 p.m. at AM Vets at Gaul and Sergeant Streets. The cost is $100 to buy in. All proceeds will benefit Cione Playground.

Coach bag bingo

Greensgrow events

A tomato grafting workshop will be held on Saturday, March 8 from 12 to 2 p.m. Farmer Nathan Hassler-Brooks will demonstrate how to graft onto a blight resistant root stock and explain why and how grafting works. KCFC membership meeting

Kensington Community Food Co-op will host their first meeting of the year on Saturday, March 8, at noon at Circle of Hope, 2007 Frankford Ave.

40 Hours Devotion

Mother of Divine Grace Parish will be celebrating 40 Hours Devotion starting Sunday, March 9, with 10:30 a.m. Mass. It will continue Sunday evening with a 7 p.m. holy hour, including Benediction. 40 Hours Devotion will conclude with Mass at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 10. The blessed sacrament will be exposed all day and early evening on Sunday and Monday. ••

Yoga at St. Michael’s
