Bridesburg Kinder Kamp

Registration for Kinder Kamp at Bridesburg Recreation Center, 4625 Richmond St., will be held on Wednesday, May 3, at 8 a.m. Cost is $120. Must register for the entire encampment and must be paid in full at registration. There will be two sessions and two encampments. Camp is for children ages 2, 3 and 4. Camp will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 10:15 a.m. to 12: 45 p.m. or 1:30 to 4 p.m. First camp will run from June 27 to July 20. Second camp will run from July 25 to Aug. 17. Tot rec program

The Bridesburg Recreation Center, 4625 Richmond St., tot program will begin in September. Child must be age as of Sept. 1. Pre K for age 4 will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays, from noon to 2:40 p.m. Pre School for age 3 will be held on Thursdays and Fridays, from noon to 2:40 p.m. Toddler Time for age 2 will be held on Mondays and Thursdays, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. For details, contact Miss Jackie at 215–685–1247.

Annual men’s soccer league

The 35th Annual Ukrainian Club Men’s Soccer League, 847 N. Franklin St., will begin in May. Games are weeknights on an outdoor field. Teams are five players plus one goalie. Spikes are required. Board members needed

New Kensington Community Development Corporation is looking for several new volunteer board members. FNA zoning meeting

Fishtown Neighbors Association will hold a zoning meeting on Tuesday, May 2, at 7 p.m. at the Fishtown Rec Center, 1202 E. Montgomery Ave. Voting will take place on a proposal for adding a two-story addition onto an existing one-story building for the creation of a three dwelling unit, multi-family residence with roof deck at 29 W. Wildey St. and a proposal to create a mixed-used building with commercial on the ground floor and residential, 28 dwelling units, on floors two through five at 1502–08 Frankford Ave. All residents and business owners in Fishtown are eligible to vote. PROPAC meeting

Port Richmond on Patrol and Civic will hold a meeting on Wednesday, May 3, at 7 p.m. at The Columbia Social Club, 3529 Almond St. 24th Police District Capt. Daniel O’Connor and Community Relations officer Tina Willis will give 24th District PSA-3 crime stats and updates.

Special needs cheer signups

The Bridesburg Cougars will hold signups for the new special needs cheer team on Wednesdays, May 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 at Bridesburg Recreation Center, 4625 Richmond St., from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Fee is $90 to register. Rain Check workshop

The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society will be hosting a Rain Check Workshop at Fishtown Library, 1217 E. Montgomery Ave., on Wednesday, May 3, at 6 p.m. Participants will learn how to get a free rain barrel. Stars Wars Day

Flag disposal event

The members of Bridesburg Lawton VFW Post #2 and Boy Scouts of Troop 120 will be holding a disposal ceremony for damaged, dirty, or discarded American Flags outside of the VFW Post 2, 4638 Richmond St., on Saturday, May 6, at 2 p.m. Our fellow veterans, friends and neighbors are invited to attend the ceremony. Community meeting and groundbreaking celebration

The Kensington Community Food Co-op, 2666 Coral St., will celebrate the start of its store construction with a groundbreaking on Saturday, May 6. Stop by for information, food, drinks, prizes, and fun to recognize this milestone. All are welcome including kids. Meeting starts at 1 p.m. with celebration to follow from 1:30 to 4 p.m.

Palmer Park plant sale

The Friends of Fishtown at Palmer Park, Frankford Avenue and Palmer Street, will hold their annual plant sale on Saturday, May 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A selection of annual flowers in a variety of colors will be available for purchase. This is Palmer Park’s once-a-year fundraising event and all proceeds support the maintenance and beautification of the park. Rain date is Sunday, May 7.

Flapjack fundraiser

FNA zoning meeting

Fishtown Tot Rec registration

Fishtown Tot Rec Preschool Program, 1202 E. Montgomery Ave., registration will be held on Thursday, May 11, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. For 3-year-old class, child must be 3 by Sept. 1. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. For the 4-year-old class, child should be 4 by Sept. 1. Classes will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 8:30 to 11 a.m. All children must be potty-trained.The child’s birth certificate, immunization record and a $20 non-refundable registration fee is required at registration. Comedy Night

Penn Treaty Park events

Lehigh Avenue Arts Festival

CYO basketball camp

Portside art classes

Portside Arts Center, 2531 E. Lehigh Ave., is offering after-school art classes including stop motion animation, drawing and mosaics. Cione Playground programs

Cione Playground, 2600 Aramingo Ave., is offering programs to the public. Zumba classes will be held on Fridays, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. and cost is $5 per class. Glavin Playground programs

Frank Glavin “A&W” Playground is offering the following programs. Improv for Kids is held on Thursdays, from 6:30 to 7:30, for children ages 8 to 12. The drama program aims to improve self-confidence, social skills and teach kids how to make up silly scenes on the spot. Fee is $40 for eight weeks. Advance registration is required. Book Club for youth ages 6 and over will be held on Mondays, from 6 to 6:30 p.m. with Miss Bridget. Program is free. Food pantry hours change

St. Michael’s Church, Trenton Avenue and Cumberland Street, has revised hours for the weekly food pantry distributions. Distribution hours are from 11 a.m. to noon. There will no longer be evening hours. Members from the 19125 and 19134 may come twice a month or three times a month if a month has five Thursdays. For details, call 215–423–0792.

Nutrition assistance for seniors

Residents 60 and older who are disabled and have low to modest income may be eligible for SNAP benefits. If you are single and your income is less than $1962 a month, or less than $2656 a month for a couple, you may qualify. There is no limit on how much a senior has in savings and checking accounts. For assistance in completing an application, schedule an appointment with the Social Service Coordinator at St. Anne’s Senior Center, 2607 E. Cumberland St., 215–426–9799.

Women self-defense classes

Women self-defense classes will be held at Fishtown Recreation Center, 1202 E. Montgomery Ave., on Tuesdays, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $10 per class. Course certification available. Yoga at Towey Rec

Support group

Lost parents and family members group meets every third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at Cione Recreation Center, Lehigh and Aramingo avenues. Anyone who is suffering from the loss of a loved one, friend or whoever is welcome.

Bridesburg food pantry

Bridesburg Recreation Center, 4625 Richmond St., is accepting nonperishable food and clothing donations for the needy in the neighborhood. Donations can be dropped off on weekdays, between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Kirtan class

MotherHeart Studio, 2359 E. Susquehanna Ave., welcomes everyone in the neighborhood to take part in MotherHeart Kirtan. Kirtan is the recitation of spiritual ideas through songs of devotion. Style is call and response singing of mantra and sounds.Event begins at 7:15 p.m on every second Friday of the month. Donation only.

Bingo at Ukrainian Cathedral

Bingo at St. Anne’s Center

Senior exercise classes

Exercise classes for people 50 and older will be offered at St. Anne’s Senior Center, 2607 E. Cumberland St. Class schedule will be Enhance-Fitness on Mondays at 12:30 p.m., Thursdays at 11 a.m., and Fridays, at 10:30 a.m., Chair Yoga on Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. (except the second Tuesday of each month), and Tai Chi on Wednesdays at 10 a.m.

Creative art classes

St. Anne’s Senior Center, 2607 E. Cumberland St., is offering creative workshops for individuals ages 50 and older. Clay Creations will be held on Fridays, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Creating with the Color Wheel, an interactive painting class with Michael Secor, will be held on Tuesdays, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Registration required. Bridesburg bows and banners

Bridesburg Recreation Center, 4625 Richmond St., has spring bows and Bridesburg pride banners available for purchase. Police, firemen, breast cancer and yellow bows are always available. Bows and banners cost $3 each and can be purchased any weekday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Special colors are available in one week. All proceeds benefit the children’s activities at the center. Marine veterans group
