MDG Italian Festival
Mother of Divine Grace Parish’s annual Italian Festival will be held on Thursdays June 1 and 8, Fridays, June 2 and 9, and Saturdays, June 3 and 10, at 6 p.m. at Thompson and Cambria. Spaghetti suppers will be served every night in the air-conditioned school hall from 5 to 8 p.m. Take-out is available beginning at 4 p.m. Other food available will include fried dough, pizza, sausage and peppers, meatballs, and roast pork sandwiches, all cooked homemade and served in the food court. Entertainment will include wheels of chance, moon bounce, games for children of all ages, a beer garden offering craft, domestic and imported beers, along with specialty drinks, and the gaming hall. St. George Bazaar
St. George Parish, Edgemont and Venango streets, will hold its bazaar on Thursdays June 1 and 8, Fridays, June 2 and 9, and Sundays, June 3 and 10. Kitchen opens at 6 p.m. Activities begin at 7 p.m. There will be chances for Phillies tickets, a beer garden, nightly air-conditioned Bingo, card games, homemade pierogies and blynais, barbecue, and children’s games and activities. SGS Alumni Night will be Friday, June 2, and Mojo Night and Cheesesteak Night will be Saturday, June 3.
Block party
Atonement Church and By My Side will host a block party on Saturday, June 3, from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. at 1500 E. Montgomery Ave. The event will feature pyrotechnics, jugglers, kids games, adult games, chances, prizes, face painting, food and music. There will also be a flea market. Vendors can rent a table and two chairs for $10. Residents are invited to enter the barbecue contest. Bring a four-quart or larger container filled with barbecue concoction. Food pantry hours change
St. Michael’s Church, Trenton Avenue and Cumberland Street, has revised hours for the weekly food pantry distributions. Distribution hours are from 11 a.m. to noon. Nutrition assistance for seniors
Residents 60 and older who are disabled and have low to modest income may be eligible for SNAP benefits. If you are single and your income is less than $1962 a month, or less than $2656 a month for a couple, you may qualify. There is no limit on how much a senior has in savings and checking accounts.
