The Streets Department’s Traffic Unit confirmed that there were two illegal “No Parking” signs posted on the street.

During the first week of September, local resident, Frank McLaughlin, inquired about why no parking signs have been put on Richmond Street, between Frankford Ave and Front Street. He added that there are no homes on this street, but there is undeveloped land that the Fillmore uses for event parking. Ultimately, he wondered if someone was getting preferential treatment?

In response, Keisha McCarty-Skelton, public relations supervisor at the Streets Department’s Traffic Unit confirmed that there were two illegal “No Parking” signs posted on Richmond Street between Frankford and Leopard, of which the Traffic Unit removed the signs. The signs have been reposted on more than one occasion, and the unit has removed them on more than one occasion.

Separate and apart from the illegal signs, during events, the Fillmore is permitted to post “No Parking” signs in order to accommodate their artists.

She added that permanent signage has been placed on Richmond between Leopard and Front Streets for the new development taking place by the Streets Department’s Traffic Unit.
