On Saturday, Nov. 25, the Bridesburg Civic Association will host its fourth annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Bridesburg Civic Center from 6 to 8 p.m.

The event will feature a DJ, balloon twisters, a chance to meet Santa Claus, and a performance from the Aqua String Band.

“Each year it gets bigger,” said Fred Becker, the vice president of the Bridesburg Civic Association. “The first year we had about 300 people, and each year people are getting more excited for the tree lighting.”

According to Becker, there were between 400 and 500 people at last year’s tree lighting.

The event’s two major sponsors, according to Becker, are Dydak Realty and Ellis Coffee. Representatives from Ellis Coffee will be giving away free hot drinks at the event.

Last year, 10 families were given $100 gift cards to ShopRite for the holiday season. Becker said that 10 $100 gift cards to ShopRite will again be awarded this year.

The event will also feature a 50/50 raffle, appearances from Boy Scout Troop 120 and Girl Scout Troop 9378,

The 50/50 raffle will give attendees a chance to win items such as games, bicycles and TVs.

“It’s bringing back the old times of neighborhood and community ways, and everybody has a really good time,” added Becker. “It’s a throwback to the yesteryears.”

The rain date for the event is Dec. 5.

“When people come here they’re very excited,” said Becker. “They’re very happy to be here.”

The Bridesburg Recreation Center is located at 4601 Richmond St. in Bridesburg.
