Tigers signups

The Port Richmond Tigers are now holding sign ups for baseball and softball for boys and girls ages 7 to 18. There are limited players per team. Sign up at the Clubhouse, Chatham and Ann streets, Monday through Friday, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. For more details, call Tom Mack at 215–275–8838.

Bridesburg Tot Rec

Bridesburg Recreation Center, 4625 Richmond St., is accepting information for its 2018–2019 Tot Rec program. Children must be 3 or 4 as of Sept. 1. The 4-year-old program will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays, from noon to 2:40 p.m. The 3-year-old program will be held on Thursdays and Fridays, from noon to 2:40 p.m. Toddler Time for 2 year olds will be held on Mondays and Thursdays, from noon to 2 p.m. If interested, call the rec at 215–685–1247 and leave your name and address to receive information in March.

A&W programs

Glavin, “A & W,” Playground, Almond and Westmoreland streets, will hold Improv Comedy Basics workshops on Thursdays, from 7 to 8 p.m. Classes are drop-in and fee is $5. Cash is accepted. For details, call 215–685–9898 or email [email protected].

Cione programs

Cione Playground, 2600 Aramingo Ave., will hold Music and Movement classes for ages 3 and older on Saturdays, at 10 a.m. until May. Classes are free. Tot Recreation registration will be held on Tuesday, April 10, and Wednesday, April 11, from 6 to 7 p.m. The program will run Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Children must be 3 years old and potty trained to the program. Preschool Storytime and Playtime

Richmond Library, 2987 Almond St., will host Preschool Storytime and Playtime on Tuesdays, April 10 and 17 at 10:30 a.m. Miss Meghan invites children ages 1 to 4 and their caregivers to join her for stories, songs, and activities. Read, Baby, Read Walkers & Talkers Pajama Storytime

Richmond Library, 2987 Almond St., will host Read, Baby, Read Walkers & Talkers Pajama Storytime on Wednesdays, April 11 and 25 at 6 p.m. Dance, wiggle and sing along in our fun, free storytime for young independent movers. For children ages 12 months to 24 months with caregiver. Childcares and groups, please call the library to make an appointment. Pajamas optional.

Pysanky workshop

The Bridesburg Historical Society will host Ms. Christina from the Ukranian Cultural Center for a presentation on Wednesday, April 11, at 7 p.m. on the art of “pysanky.” Participants will have the opportunity to create their own “pysanky.” The Bridesburg Historical Society meets in the meeting room of St. John Cantius Convent, 4400 Almond St., adjacent to the parking lot. All the supplies will be provided. There is no cost. All are welcome and refreshments will be served.

Read, Baby, Read My First Storytime

Richmond Library, 2987 Almond St., will host Read, Baby, Read My First Storytime on Thursdays, April 12, and 26 2018 at 11:00 a.m. and 19 at 2:30 p.m., and Saturday, April 28, at 11 a.m. Bring your little one for free lap time with stories, songs, rhymes and bounces. Riverfront North events

Riverfront North, formerly DRCC, will host Bikes, Beans & Beers: Group Bike Ride and Coffee Tasting will be held on Saturday, April 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Meet at Palmer Park, Columbia and Frankford avenues. The group bicycle ride starts in Fishtown and heads north along portions of the North Delaware Riverfront Greenway. Ladies of Port Richmond breakfast

The annual Ladies of Port Richmond Breast Cancer Breakfast will be held on Sunday, April 15, at 10 a.m. at St. George, Edgemont and Venango streets.

FNA zoning meeting

Fishtown Neighbors Association will hold a zoning meeting on Tuesday, April 17, at 7 p.m. at Fishtown Recreation Center, 1202 E. Montgomery Ave. Voting will take place on a proposal for a new construction, four-story, four dwelling unit structure with roof deck with two roof deck access structures at 1520 Frankford Ave. and an ​amended proposal for a banquet hall use in Unit #106-A, as part of an existing multi-unit structure, at 2410–50 E. York St. The development team will also be presenting a Community Benefits Agreement related to the proposed use. Please bring proof of residence or business ownership in the form of a driver’s license or a photo ID and a lease, utility bill or recent piece of mail addressed to your home.

Flea market

The Roosevelt Mall Flea Market, Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue, will return on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vendors currently being accepted. No new item vendors and food vendors must register in advance. Vendor set up from 5 to 8 a.m. For more details, call 215–625–3532.

Religion workshop

Beef and beer

A beef and beer benefitting U-8 Cione Lady Strikers Soccer will be held on Saturday, April 14, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Point No Point, 2843 Orthodox St. Tickets cost $35 in advance and $45 at the door and include open bar, bottled beer and food. A&W Flea Market

A flea market will be held at Frank Glavin “A&W” Playground, 2600 E. Westmoreland St., on Saturday, April 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $10 per space.

Community dinner

Grace and the Incarnation Church will host its community dinner on Saturday, April 21, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.at the church located, Edgemont and Venango streets. All are welcome to the free meal.

Church ticket basket auction

Emanuel United Church of Christ, 2628 Fillmore St., will host Ticket in Basket Auction on Saturday, April 21. Doors open at 11 a.m. and drawing starts at 12:30 p.m. Admission is $4 and includes $1 in tickets. Food and snacks will be available for purchase.

Home run derby

The city Department of Parks and Recreation will hold a Junior Home Run Derby on Saturday, April 28, at 2 p.m. at Ryan Howard Field, at 9th Street and Hunting Park Avenue. Boys and girls will be divided into 12-and-under and 14-and-under age divisions.There is no fee to compete. Winners will advance to regional competitions, with regional winners advancing to the national finals, held during Major League Baseball’s all-star week. Golf outing

Friends of St. George will host its 7th annual Golf Outing and Banquet on Sunday, April 29, at 9 a.m. Event is shotgun start and cost is $100 per person, with a $50 discount for a foursome if paid before April 15. Mother and Daughter Banquet

The Bridesburg Historical Society will hold the Mother and Daughter Banquet for all women of the community. The banquet established the Bridesburg Presbyterian Church, will be held on Wednesday, May 2, at 6:30 p.m. at Fran Lee Caterers, 4556 Almond St. Cost is $22 for adults and $10 for children 7 years of age and younger. Bridesburg Recreation Center, 4625 Richmond St., has Bridesburg banners and police, fireman, breast cancer and color bows available for purchase any weekday between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Cost is $3.50 each. Proceeds benefit the children’s activities.

Bridesburg Food Pantry donations

Bridesburg Recreation Center, 4625 Richmond St., is collecting items for the Bridesburg Food Pantry. Nonperishable food and clothing can be dropped off at the rec center on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Adaire Chess Club

The Adaire Chess Club, founded and run by Friends of Adaire board member Stefan Zajic, meets Mondays after school. Each week, 15–30 students of all grades meet to play chess, solve puzzles, learn tactics and strategy and to have fun. For more details, please email Zajic at [email protected].

Women self-defense classes

Women self-defense classes will be held at Fishtown Recreation Center, 1202 E. Montgomery Ave., on Tuesdays, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $10 per class. Course certification available. Support group

Lost parents and family members group meets every third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at Cione Recreation Center, Lehigh and Aramingo avenues. Anyone who is suffering from the loss of a loved one, friend or whoever is welcome.

Nutrition assistance for seniors

Residents 60 and older who are disabled and have low to modest income may be eligible for SNAP benefits. If you are single and your income is less than $1,962 a month, or less than $2,656 a month for a couple, you may qualify. There is no limit on how much a senior has in savings and checking accounts. For assistance in completing an application, schedule an appointment with the social service coordinator at St. Anne’s Senior Center, 2607 E. Cumberland St., (215) 426–9799.

Bingo at Ukrainian Cathedral

Bingo will be held at the Ukrainian Cathedral, 801 N. 8th St., on every Monday and Friday. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Games begin at 7 p.m. Private parking lot on premises. For details, call (215) 839–8103.

Bingo at St. Anne’s Center

St. Anne’s Senior Community Center, 2607 E. Cumberland St., offers bingo on Mondays and Thursdays. Senior exercise classes

Exercise classes for people 50 and older will be offered at St. Anne’s Senior Center, 2607 E. Cumberland St. Class schedule will be Enhance-Fitness on Mondays at 12:30 p.m., Thursdays at 11 a.m., and Fridays, at 10:30 a.m., Chair Yoga on Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. (except the second Tuesday of each month), and Tai Chi on Wednesdays at 10 a.m.

Creative art classes

St. Anne’s Senior Center, 2607 E. Cumberland St., is offering creative workshops for individuals ages 50 and older. Clay Creations will be held on Fridays, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Creating with the Color Wheel, an interactive painting class with Michael Secor, will be held on Tuesdays, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Registration required.
