Read, Baby, Read: Parent Group at Porchlight

MDG Italian Festival
Mother of Divine Grace‘s annual Italian Festival will be held on Thursday, June 7, Friday, 8; and Saturday, June 9, at Thompson and Cambria Streets starting at 6 p.m. Spaghetti suppers will be served every night in the air-conditioned school hall from 5 to 8 p.m. Take-out will be available beginning at 4 p.m. All are welcome to come and enjoy fried dough, pizza, sausage and peppers, meatballs and roast pork sandwiches all cooked homemade and served in the food court; wheels of chance, moon bounce, and plenty of games for children of all ages; beer garden offering domestic and imported beers, along with specialty drinks; and Monte Carlo. Bake sale
A bake sale will be held on Thursday, June 7, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Lutheran Settlement House, 1340 Frankford Ave., to benefit the Senior Center.
St. George annual School Bazaar
Saint George Parish will host its annual Summer School Bazaar on Thursdays, June 7 and 14, Fridays, June 8 and 15, and Saturdays, June 9 and 16. June 8 is Alumni Night and June 15 is Principal Danny Markowski Appreciation Night. The bazaar will feature bingo, prizes, chances, beer, DJs every night, and homemade pierogis and blynais (potato pancakes).

North Catholic 50th reunion

Flag Disposal Event

Tumbling and gymnastics registration
Registration for the Tumbling and Gymnastics Camp at Bridesburg Recreation Center, 4601 Richmond St., will begin on Monday, June 11. The camp is for ages 3 to 12, will be held Monday, July 9, to Friday, July 27, from 9 to 10 a.m., and is limited to 45 children. Cost is $70 for three weeks or $30 per week. Camp must be paid in full at registration.

FNA zoning meeting
Fishtown Neighbors Association will hold a zoning meeting on Tuesday, June 12, at 7 p.m. at Fishtown Recreation Center, 1202 E. Montgomery Ave. Voting will take place on a proposal for unity of uses between 1104–06 and 1108–12 Frankford Ave, a three-story addition to an existing structure, two projecting signs, five flatwall signs, and sit-down restaurant and banquet hall uses at 1104–06 Frankford Ave. All residents and business owners in Fishtown are eligible to vote. Ferko in concert at PPH
The Joseph A. Ferko String Band will perform on Thursday, June 14, at 7:15 p.m. at the Philadelphia Protestant Home social hall, 600 Tabor Ave. The Belairs Doo Wop, featuring Dennis Gillen, will be in concert on July 12. St. Adalbert Parish Summer Bazaar

Property Tax / Rent Rebate Program
Pennsylvania Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program applications are now available. There are new guidelines, which will permit individuals who qualify to receive a rebate between $250 and $650 from property taxes or rent paid last year. This application must be filed by June 30. To qualify, you must be a senior citizen 65 years of age or older, a widow or widower 50 years of age or older, or a disabled person 18 years or older. Homeowners who have annual incomes of $35,000 or less and renters with annual incomes of $15,000 or less could qualify. Only half of your annual Social Security or SSI income is counted toward the income guideline. Nutrition assistance for seniors
Residents 60 and older who are disabled and have low to modest income may be eligible for SNAP benefits. If you are single and your income is less than $1,962 a month, or less than $2,656 a month for a couple, you may qualify. There is no limit on how much a senior has in savings and checking accounts.
