FNA zoning meeting to discuss two projects

Fishtown Neighbors Association will hold a zoning meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m. at the Fishtown Rec Center, 1202 E. Montgomery Ave.

Voting will take place on a proposal for a proposal for 37 dwelling units in an existing church structure at 300 Richmond St. Existing church function to remain at rear portion of building; and a proposal for demolition of an existing two-story structure and erection of a new, three-story single family dwelling with an accessory interior parking space at 1128 E. Columbia Avenue.

All residents and business owners in Fishtown are eligible to vote. ••

Summer send-off community festival

In conjunction with Parks on Tap, Riverfront North Partnership and the Friends of Pleasant Hill Park, will hold a Summer Sendoff Festival for the community at Pleasant Hill Park, Delaware Avenue at Linden Avenue on Wednesday, Sept. 5, from 5 to 9 p.m.

The event will include food, drinks, music, kids activities, and more. A percent of sales at Parks on Tap will go to Friends of Pleasant Hill Park who help maintain the park all year long. ••

Flea market at Bridebsurg Rec Center

Bridesburg Methodist Church will sponsor a flea market on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bridebsurg Recreation Center, 4600 Richmond St.

Tables cost $15 each or $25 for two.

Bethesda Methodist Church penny party

Bethesda Methodist Church, 2820 E. Venango St., will hold a penny party on Saturday, Sept. 8. Doors open at 11 a.m. Event starts at 1 p.m.

Cost is $5 for a strip of tickets, coffee, tea, and a dessert. Spend $20, get four strips of tickets and one free.

Hot dogs, hoagies, soda, and water will be available for purchase. ••

Fleet Reserve Association meeting is Sept. 10

Fleet Reserve Association George L. Carlin; Branch 001 will hold a meeting on Monday, Sept. 10, at 1 p.m. at USCG Sector Delaware Bay,1 Washington Avenue.

Meetings are held the first Monday of every Month; held on the second Monday if a holiday.

LSH announces new programming

Lutheran Settlement House, 1340 Frankford Ave., is offering several classes to the public. Art classes for ages 55 and older will be held on Wednesdays, at 10:30 a.m. Instructor is Barbara Morehead and suggested donation is $2.

CLAYMOBILE will host pottery workshops at LSH on Mondays, Sept. 10 and 24, and Oct. 1, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Cost is $15 per session and is cash only. To register, contact Caroline Klug at 215–426–8610 Ext. 1206.

A cake sale will be held at The Lutheran Settlement House, 1340 Frankford Ave., on Thursday, Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A&W Playground programs and flea market

Frank Glavin “A&W” Playground, 2600 E. Westmoreland St., will have registration for their 4-year-old and older, dance and tumbling programs, on Thursday, Sept. 13, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. A $20 non-refundable registration fee per program will be collected. Other programs offered are Tae-Kwon-Do and Girl Scouting programs.

Fall Flea Market is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 15, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. No reservations needed, set-up on a first-come basis. Must supply your own table. A $10 donation will be collected day of event. No food vendors permitted.

American Legion Post 821 paint party

American Legion Post 821 Auxiliary will hold a painting party on Sunday, Sept. 16, at the post, 4404 Salmon St. Doors open at noon and painting begins at 1 p.m.

Bring brown-bag lunch and snacks. No BYOB. Beverages will be available for purchase at the bar.

Tickets cost $35. ••

Girl Scouts announce upcoming schedule

Girl Scout Troops at Frank Glavin “A&W” Playground, 2600 E. Westmoreland St. will resume for the 2018–19 Scout year the week of Sept. 17 as follows: Brownies, 1st -through 3rd grade, Monday, 6:45 to 8 p.m.; Daisy, K and 1st grade, Tuesday, 6:05 to 7 p.m.; Older Girl, 6th through 12th grade, Tuesday, 7 to 8 p.m.; and Junior, 4th through 6th grade, Wednesday, 6:45 to 8 p.m.

E. Kensington Neighbors Association to meet

The next East Kensington Neighbors Association monthly meeting will be held on Monday, Sept. 17, at Philadelphia Brewing Co., 2440 Frankford Ave. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Meeting runs from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., followed by committee break-out time from 7:45 to 8:30 p.m.

Topics will include committee updates, zoning and development, and committee meeting time.

Vermont-New Hampshire trip announced

Fall Toy Train Show and Sale is Sept. 23

The Train Collectors Association Atlantic Division will hold its Fall Toy Train Show and Sale on Sunday, Sept. 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sheet Metal Workers Union Hall, 1301 S. Columbus Boulevard.

Admission is $5.00 per attendee, or per family of two adults and all children 12 and under years. There will be a variety of vintage toy trains and repair parts for sale, operating toy train layouts, and toy train activities for the kids. Food is available on premises.
