LOPR breakfast fundraiser

FNA zoning meeting

The Fishtown Neighbors Association will hold a zoning meeting on Tuesday, April 2, at 7 p.m. at Fishtown Rec Center, 1202 E. Montgomery Ave.

Voting will take place on two projects, including a proposal for a take-out restaurant (Starbucks) in ground floor commercial space at 1405 Frankford Ave. No change in previously approved uses (30 units multi-family, business/professional office at second commercial space) in other areas of building. No signage in the application. There is also a proposal for a new construction single family home with roof deck at 2332 E. Thompson St. Refusal is for open area.

All residents and business owners in Fishtown are eligible to vote. Bring proof of residence or business ownership in the form of a driver’s license or a photo ID and a lease, utility bill or recent piece of mail addressed to your home.

26th PDAC annual Awards Banquet

The 26th Police District Advisory Council’s annual Awards Banquet will be held on Friday, May 3, from 7 p.m. to midnight at SugarHouse Casino, 1001 N. Delaware Ave.

Tickets cost $50 and are available at the 26th District, 615 E. Girard Ave., or by calling 215–686–3233. Tables of 10 are available for $500.

The yearly fundraiser supports the 26th District officers and the community they serve.

Program ads are available for purchase, and donations are being accepted. Deadline for ads is April 2. Make check or money order payable to 26th Police District Advisory Council.

RWTC presents Crazy for You

St. Anne’s Parish programming

A basket auction will be held at St. Anne’s Social Hall, Memphis and Tucker streets, on Saturday, April 6. A preview will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m., and auction starts at 7 p.m.

Admission is $5 per person. Light refreshments will be available for purchase.

Donations are greatly appreciated.

An Eggscellent Easter will be held at St. Anne’s Social Hall on Saturday, April 13, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Cost is $5 per person. The event will feature music, crafts, light snacks and drinks.

Spring cleanup volunteer day

Riverfront North Partnership is seeking volunteers for the citywide Streets Cleanup on Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to noon. Volunteers should meet at the entrance of the future riverfront park in Bridesburg, North Delaware Avenue at Orthodox Street.

Participants will help with trail and street trash cleanup as well as trail maintenance. Riverfront North will also celebrate the “Opening Day of Trails.” Volunteers are encouraged to use the Port Richmond trail to walk or bike to the event.

Candy Scramble and Easter Hat and Tie Contest

Bridesburg Recreation Center, 4601 Richmond St., will hold its annual Candy Scramble and Easter Hat and Tie Contest on Saturday, April 6, at 2 p.m.

The event is open to boys and girls 10 and under. The Easter Bunny will visit at 1:30 p.m. Bring a camera for photos. A 50–50 raffle and tombola will be held. There will be trophies and candy.

Easter candy sale

Bethesda Methodist Church, 2820 E. Venango St., will host its homemade Easter candy sale on Saturdays, April 13 and 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Easter eggs include buttercream, coconut, chocolate, peanut butter, and fruit and nut. Lollipops, crosses, bunnies and other candy will be available for purchase. ••

Holy Inn going on casino trip

Holy Innocents Church will be holding a trip to the Sands Casino in Bethlehem on Tuesday, April 23.

A bus will depart at 9 a.m. from L Street and Hunting Park Avenue. The bus will depart the Sands at 4:30 p.m.

The cost is $35, due by April 15. Guests will receive $25 in slot cash.

Travel with North alums on May 11

The Northeast Catholic Alumni Association is sponsoring a trip to Baltimore on Saturday, May 11.

A bus will depart the alumni house at Rhawn and Fairfield streets at 8:30 a.m. and arrive back at 8:30 p.m.

The day includes a ticket to the National Aquarium at 11 a.m. and a sit-down late lunch/early dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe at 2 p.m.

There will be about three hours free time before the bus departs the Inner Harbor at 6:30 p.m.

The cost is $110, which must be paid in full by April 8.

Toddler Time at Bridesburg Rec

Bridesburg Recreation Center, 4601 Richmond St., will offer Toddler Time programs in September.

Toddler Time (2) will be held on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. or noon to 2 p.m. Pre School (3) will be held on Thursdays and Fridays from 8:50 to 11:30 a.m. or noon to 2:40 p.m. Pre K (4) will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:50 to 11:30 a.m. or noon to 2:40 p.m. Child must be age for class as of Sept. 1.

Auditions for music program

The nonprofit Share the Spotlight is holding auditions for musicians in grades six through 12 for a tuition-free summer rock music program.

Auditions take place at Keystone Soundworks, 4900 Longshore Ave., beginning on April 5. The deadline to sign up is April 1.

To audition, students can learn any song by the Beatles, Led Zeppelin or Aretha Franklin on guitar, bass, drum set, keyboard or vocals. They should have some experience on their instrument and be highly motivated to practice and learn new parts.

The program will meet twice a week through June and July and perform an end-of-the-season show in a professional venue.

Bridesburg’s Men’s Softball League seeking teams

The Bridesburg Men’s Softball League, an arc pitch weeknight league, is seeking teams for the 2019 season.

With a goal of eight teams total, the league is looking to add two to three teams to complete the roster. Teams will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Sign-ups for the Port Richmond Tigers baseball and softball programs for boys and girls ages 6 to 18 are open. Most teams are full.

Girls-only wrestling program has openings

Beat the Streets Philadelphia has started a girls-only wrestling program at the Rizzo PAL Center, Belgrade and Clearfield streets.

All girls ages 6 to 18 are welcome. No experience is necessary. Practices are held on Fridays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The program is free of charge.

Sign up for senior softball

The Philadelphia Senior Softball League, based at Crispin Field, is looking for players.

There are six teams in the 60 and older league. Games are played Tuesdays and Thursdays.

There are four teams in the 68 and older league. Games are played Mondays and Fridays.

First pitch is at 10:30 a.m. The leagues run from the second week in April through October. There are no games in July. The 30-game season includes playoffs.

Bridesburg Rec Center summer camp registration

Registration for summer camp at Bridesburg Recreation Center, 4601 Richmond St., is now open,

There will be two encampments, which will run four weeks each. Encampments include early, day and extended camps.

The first encampment will run from Monday, June 17, to Friday, July 12. The second encampment will run from Monday, July 15, to Friday, Aug. 9.

All fees must be paid in full at registration. Cost is $110 for each early camp and $200 for each day and extended camps.
