Friends of Richmond Library meeting

Friends of Richmond Library will hold a meeting on Wednesday, April 17, at 6 p.m. at the library, 2987 Almond St.

Good Friday Troop 11 hoagie sale

Boy Scouts Troop 11 will hold its annual Good Friday hoagie sale on Friday, April 19, at Grace and the Incarnation Church, 2645 E. Venango St. Doors open at 10 a.m.

Cost is $5 for tuna, cheese and egg salad hoagies and $6 for tuna with cheese hoagies. Lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles and hot peppers will be available. Homemade potato salad and macaroni salad will be $1 for a small and $3 for a large.

Elm Tree Post 88 Fish Fry

The Elm Tree Post 88, 1414 E. Palmer St., will hold its annual “Good Friday Fish Fry”

on Friday, April 19, from 3 to 7 p.m.

Flounder, fish cake platters and sandwiches along with mac and cheese, stewed tomatoes and desserts of all sorts will be available for purchase.

Easter egg hunt at St. George

St. George Easter Egg Hunt for children grade 6 and under will be held on Saturday, April 20, at 10 a.m. sharp in the school yard, Venango and Edgemont streets.

Bring your own basket for an egg hunt with surprises. Bring a camera to take pictures with the Easter Bunny.

Easter candy sale

Bethesda Methodist Church, 2820 E. Venango St., will host its homemade Easter candy sale on Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Easter eggs include buttercream, coconut, chocolate, peanut butter, and fruit and nut. Lollipops, crosses, bunnies and other candy will be available for purchase. ••

Holy Inn going on casino trip

Holy Innocents Church will be holding a trip to the Sands Casino in Bethlehem on Tuesday, April 23.

A bus will depart at 9 a.m. from L Street and Hunting Park Avenue. The bus will depart the Sands at 4:30 p.m.

The cost is $35. Guests will receive $25 in slot cash.

Job fair at Vogt

The public is invited to a job fair sponsored by state Rep. Joe Hohenstein on Friday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Vogt Recreation Center, 4131 Unruh Ave.

There will be representatives from local businesses, PA CareerLink, city and state government, unions and recruiters.

Stars and Stripes, Bars and Pipes pool tournament

The Bravo Chapter Stars and Stripes, Bars and Pipes will hold a pool tournament on

Sunday, April 28, at noon at the Polonia Club, 3321 Belgrade St.

The 8-ball bracket tournament cost is $25 pre-registration and $30 at the door.

Registration opens at 11 a.m., and the tournament starts at noon.

First-place prize is $200, and second-place prize is $100.

Proceeds will go toward helping veterans and first responders in the community.

St. George Golf Outing

The eighth annual St George Golf Outing will be held on Sunday, April 28, at 9 a.m.

Cost is $100 per person and includes round of golf, beverages, food and a banquet after-outing at St. George Hall.

Outing is a four-man scramble format, with prizes for top team, longest drive and closest to the pin.

Banquet is open to non-golfers for $25 per person. Sponsors and donations are welcome.

Health Fair at LSH

Lutheran Settlement House, 1340 Frankford Ave., will host a health fair on Tuesday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

All ages welcome at this free community event designed to encourage healthy lifestyle, prevent and manage disease and provide resources.

Vendors include Access Matter with its mobile HIV testing unit and Fox Chase Cancer Center.

LSH Dude Ranch trip

The Lutheran Settlement House’s Senior Center will take a trip to the newly remodeled Pine Ridge Dude Ranch, and there are a few spots left on the bus.

The package includes round-trip transportation, baggage handling, nightly entertainment, bingo and bocce. The trip will depart from the Lutheran Settlement House, 1340 Frankford Ave., on Sunday, June 16, and return on Thursday, June 20.

All payment is due May 3.

26th PDAC annual Awards Banquet

The 26th Police District Advisory Council’s annual Awards Banquet will be held on Friday, May 3, from 7 p.m. to midnight at SugarHouse Casino, 1001 N. Delaware Ave.

Tickets cost $50 and are available at the 26th District, 615 E. Girard Ave., or by calling 215–686–3233. Tables of 10 are available for $500.

The yearly fundraiser supports the 26th District officers and the community they serve.

Travel with North alums on May 11

The Northeast Catholic Alumni Association is sponsoring a trip to Baltimore on Saturday, May 11.

A bus will depart the alumni house at Rhawn and Fairfield streets at 8:30 a.m. and arrive back at 8:30 p.m.

The day includes a ticket to the National Aquarium at 11 a.m. and a sit-down late lunch/early dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe at 2 p.m.

There will be about three hours free time before the bus departs the Inner Harbor at 6:30 p.m.

The cost is $110.

Flea market at LSH

The Lutheran Settlement House,1340 Frankford Ave., will host a flea market on Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will feature food, music, art, lightly used items, and hand-made crafts. Programming for individuals 55 and older featuring boxed lunch on a first come, first serve basis will be included.

Vendors welcome and are asked to donate one item to the flea market’s raffle. All proceeds from the raffle and the cost to vendors will benefit LSH senior center.

Cost for vendors is $15 with table provided for senior center members, $30 with table provided for all other vendors, or $20 bring a table for all other vendors.

Help build POW/MIA monument

The Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans Memorial is looking for a few good benefactors to donate granite for the construction of a POW/MIA monument at Penn’s Landing.

The PVVM Fund is about three-quarters of the way toward the $126,000 needed to build the national monument. The design, by architect Doug Seiler, will feature individually cut pieces of granite arranged to look like a stockade of a POW camp.

The schedule calls for groundbreaking later this month, with construction completed by national POW/MIA Day on Sept. 20, 2019.

Toddler Time at Bridesburg Rec

Bridesburg Recreation Center, 4601 Richmond St., will offer Toddler Time programs in September.

Toddler Time (2) will be held on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. or noon to 2 p.m. Pre School (3) will be held on Thursdays and Fridays from 8:50 to 11:30 a.m. or noon to 2:40 p.m. Pre K (4) will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:50 to 11:30 a.m. or noon to 2:40 p.m. Child must be age for class as of Sept. 1.

Rock music summer program

The nonprofit Share the Spotlight is welcomes musicians in grades six through 12 to its tuition-free summer rock music program.

The program will meet twice a week through June and July and perform an end-of-the-season show in a professional venue.

Bridesburg’s Men’s Softball League seeking teams

The Bridesburg Men’s Softball League, an arc pitch weeknight league, is seeking teams for the 2019 season.

With a goal of eight teams total, the league is looking to add two to three teams to complete the roster. Teams will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Girls-only wrestling program has openings

Beat the Streets Philadelphia has started a girls-only wrestling program at the Rizzo PAL Center, Belgrade and Clearfield streets.

All girls ages 6 to 18 are welcome. No experience is necessary. Practices are held on Fridays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The program is free of charge.

Bridesburg Rec Center summer camp registration

Registration for summer camp at Bridesburg Recreation Center, 4601 Richmond St., is now open,

There will be two encampments, which will run four weeks each. Encampments include early, day and extended camps.

The first encampment will run from Monday, June 17, to Friday, July 12. The second encampment will run from Monday, July 15, to Friday, Aug. 9.

All fees must be paid in full at registration. Cost is $110 for each early camp and $200 for each day and extended camps.

MotherHeart Yoga Sangha welcomes you to take part in MotherHeart Kirtan at MotherHeart, 2359 E. Susquehanna Ave.
