Post 821 Auxiliary seeking members

There are many wonderful things about being a member of the American Legion Post 821 Auxiliary.

It is an honor to be a part of an organization that cares for veterans and their families.

Aid for Friends Christmas 2019

Items are being collected for Aid for Friends Christmas 2019.

New items for senior shut-ins can be dropped off at the Bridesburg Recreation Center, 4601 Richmond St.

Suggestions include deodorant, combs, cookies, lines, robes, stockings, blankets, dish cloths, candy, shaving cream, flannel shirts, gloves, pajamas, body lotion, socks, stamps, pens, note pads, slippers and anything useful or enjoyed by senior citizens.

Ticket in Basket auction

Emanuel United Church of Christ, 2628 Fillmore St., will host its Ticket in Basket auction on Saturday, Nov. 30.

Doors open at 11 a.m. and drawing starts at 12:15 p.m. Admission is $5 and includes $1 in tickets. Food and snacks will be available for purchase. ••

Treasures of Fishtown

The seventh- and eighth-grade classes at St. Laurentius School and Photo in Schools will display Treasures in Fishtown, a photographic essay, on Tuesday, Dec., 3, from 6 to 8 p.m.

FNA zoning meeting

Fishtown Neighbors Association will hold a zoning meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. at the Fishtown Rec Center, 1202 E. Montgomery Ave.

There will be voting on a proposal for a new construction duplex on an RSA-5 single-family zoned lot at 1230 E. Berks St. and a proposal for the legalization of an existing fence at the front property line at 1420 Emerick St.

All residents and business owners in Fishtown are eligible to vote. Bring proof of residence or business ownership.

Tree lighting at Campbell Square

Friends of Campbell Square, Belgrade Street and Allegheny Avenue, will host its tree lighting on Saturday, Dec 6, at 6:30 p.m.

Come out for a visit with Santa and enjoy complimentary cocoa and cookies. ••

2019 BCA Tree Lighting Ceremony

The Bridesburg Civic Association will present the 2019 Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The tree will be lit at 7 p.m. and rain date is Saturday, Dec. 7.

The event will feature pictures with Santa, hot chocolate, a balloon artist, a caricature artist, an outdoor Christmas movie theater, a performance by Aqua String Band and Santa escorted by Troop 120 and Engine 33.

Local businesses and representatives will be present including Dydak Realty, Councilman Bobby Henon’s office and Riverfront North Partnership.

Stars and Stripes, Bars and Pipes raffle fundraiser

Stars and Stripes, Bars and Pipes Bravo chapter is selling $10 chances for a chance to win $100 a day for 12 days from Dec. 1-12.

Tickets can be purchased through Venmo @SSBP-Bravo.

Proceeds support veterans and first responders. ••

26th Police District annual holiday gift drive

The 26th Police District is currently seeking monetary donations for its annual Children’s Christmas Party on Dec. 11 at The Fillmore, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

District police officers, school crossing guards and local business volunteers will provide a holiday party for 170 children from 12 schools. Santa and other special guests pay the children a visit during the festivities.

Monetary donations will be used to provide each child with a bike, helmet, winter hat and gloves.

The goal is to have all monetary donations picked up by Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Art on the Rocks at Portside

Grab some wine and some friends and join Portside Arts Center, 2531 E. Lehigh Ave., for a fun night out at this two-hour workshop.

Learn step-by-step painting from instructor Ellen Rivedal and create your very own work of art. Workshop will be held on Friday, Dec. 13, from 7 to 9 p.m.

All materials are provided by Portside. Event is BYOB and for ages 21 and older.

Annual tree lighting ceremony at Powers Park

Powers Park Conservancy, Almond and Ann streets, will host its annual tree-lighting ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 14.

Hot chocolate and cookies will be given out at 4:30 p.m., a raffle with Santa will be held at 4:45 p.m., and the tree lighting and pictures with Santa will take place at 5 p.m.

Dancing with Santa at St. Anne’s

Dancing with Santa will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Anne Social Hall, Memphis and Tucker streets.

Santa coming to town

St. Hubert High School’s faculty scholarship fund committee will sponsor Brunch with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The school is at Torresdale and Cottman avenues.

The cost is $15 for brunch and $5 for pictures with Santa.

The menu consists of eggs, pancakes, bacon, chicken nuggets, french fries, juice, coffee, tea and water.

Activities will include coloring, letters to Santa, ornament making, a selfie station, dancing, reindeer food making, face painting and a performance by Anna Marie’s Academy of Dance.

Breakfast with Santa at Post 821

Bridesburg American Legion Post 821, 4404 Salmon St., will host Breakfast with Santa on Sunday, Dec. 22, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Santa arrives at 10 a.m. Breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, sausage and potatoes.

Tickets cost $6 for adults and $4 for kids. ••

Adult Zumba classes at Bridesburg Rec

Bridesburg Recreation Center, 4601 Richmond St., will offer adult Zumba classes on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

Cost is $4. ••

Call for food, clothing donations

Bridesburg Recreation Center, 4601 Richmond St., is collecting nonperishable food and clothing for the needy in the neighborhood. Donations can be dropped off at the rec center weekdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. For details, call Miss Jackie at 215-685-1247. ••

Port Richmond Neighborhood Association meeting

Port Richmond Neighborhood Association meetings will be held on the first Monday of each month at Cohocksink Rec Center, Cedar and Cambria streets, at 7 p.m.

All Port Richmond business owners and residents welcome.
