FNA zoning meeting

Fishtown Neighbors Association will hold a zoning meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m. at the Fishtown Rec Center, 1202 E. Montgomery Ave.

There will be voting on a proposal for the demolition of an existing attached structure and the erection of a new construction four-story duplex at 1132 Marlborough St., and a proposal for  the erection of a side yard deck and one surface parking space accessory to an existing semi-detached single family dwelling at 1523 E. Berks St.

All residents and business owners in Fishtown are eligible to vote. Bring proof of residence or business ownership.

PROPAC community dinner at Grace and the Incarnation Church

Port Richmond on Patrol and Civic will host a community dinner at Grace Episcopal Church and the Incarnation, 2645 E. Venango St., on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Dinner will include soup and sandwiches.

Everyone is welcome to attend. ••

After-school arts program at Portside

Portside Arts Center, 2531 E. Lehigh Ave., is accepting new students into the after-school arts program for the remainder of the school year. Children in grades pre-K through fifth grade are welcome, and the program runs Monday through Friday, from 3 to 6 p.m. The program introduces children to the fundamentals of arts education through a hands-on visual arts curriculum. Transportation provided from Adaire, H.A. Brown and Hackett schools.

Annual General Thaddeus Kosciuszko Tribute Ceremony

The Polish American Congress, Eastern PA District, in conjunction with The Polish American Cultural Center Museum, extends an invitation to everyone to attend the annual General Thaddeus Kosciuszko Tribute Ceremony, honoring the American Revolutionary War hero, on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 11 a.m. at the Kosciuszko House, Third and Pine streets.

In the event of very cold or inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at the Polish American Cultural Center Museum, 308 Walnut St.

Immediately following the ceremony, there will be a luncheon at the Polish

American Cultural Center Museum.

Feb. 1 flea market at St. Hubert

St. Hubert High School, 7320 Torresdale Ave., will host a flea market on Saturday, Feb. 1, from 7:30 a.m. to noon in the cafeteria.

Proceeds benefit the faculty scholarship fund.

Port Richmond on Patrol and Civic will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m. at Columbia Social Club, 3521 Almond St. 

The meeting will include zoning for 3373 E. Thompson St. ••

North Catholic Wrestling Hall of Fame induction ceremony

The North Catholic Wrestling Alumni will hold its annual Wrestling Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 8, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Harmonia Club, 2404 Orthodox St.

The cost is $35, and includes open bar and food. All North Catholic wrestling fans and family are invited.

North Catholic was the top wrestling program in the Catholic League and still has the most championships of any team, even though the school closed in 2010.

This year’s inductees will be Joe Surba (class of 1995) and Bob “Butterfly” Dempsey (class of 2002).

Proceeds benefit Catholic League wrestlers, including those at Father Judge and Archbishop Ryan. Judge and Ryan are the top two programs in the Catholic League, and both are coached by North alums (Jim Savage at Judge, John Swift at Ryan).

Wine tasting at St. Hubert

St. Hubert High School’s Alumnae Association will host a wine-tasting event on Friday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria, near the Ditman Street entrance.

Tickets cost $35 and include 12 wine pairings, cheese, chocolate and Girl Scout cookies. People must be 21 to attend. The ticket deadline is Feb. 17.

Senior softball league looking for players

The Philadelphia Senior Softball League is looking for experienced players for their 59-and-over and 68-and-over leagues.

The seasons start mid-April and go till mid-October. There are about 30 games, along with playoffs.

There are no games in July.

Games in the 59-and-over league are Tuesdays and Thursdays. For the 68-and-over league, games are Mondays and Fridays.

All games are played at Crispin Field, Holme and Convent avenues. Games start at 10:30 a.m.

Phila. High Class of ‘68 celebrating turning 70

Members of the South Philadelphia High School Class of 1968 will celebrate turning 70 years old at a buffet luncheon on Saturday, Oct. 24, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Waterfall Room, 2015 S. Water St.

Tickets cost $55 and include an open bar.

The luncheon is open to all classes of South Philadelphia High.

Checks can be made payable to SPHS Class of 1968 and mailed to Maria Leati, 26 Old Republic Lane, Marlton, NJ 08053.

Support adoption, get a free Frosty

Individuals are encouraged to buy a Frosty key tag for $2, with the money donated to the Center City-based Adoption Center.

The tags are available through March 1.

Anyone purchasing a tag can use it at Wendy’s throughout 2020 for a free Jr. Frosty with every purchase.

The Center will use the funds to help find families for the hundreds of children in the tri-state area who live in foster care and wait to be adopted.

Adult Zumba classes at Bridesburg Rec

Bridesburg Recreation Center, 4601 Richmond St., will offer adult Zumba classes on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

Call for food, clothing donations

Port Richmond Neighborhood Association meeting

Port Richmond Neighborhood Association meetings will be held on the first Monday of each month at Cohocksink Rec Center, Cedar and Cambria streets, at 7 p.m.

All Port Richmond business owners and residents welcome.

The goal of the group is to unite the neighborhood in every positive way possible. ••
