Benches in Port Richmond’s Campbell Square received some much-needed TLC on Sunday afternoon.

More than 40 volunteers came out and, over two hours, scraped, sanded and painted all the benches in the park, located at the intersection of Belgrade Street and Allegheny Avenue.

The event was organized by Brendan Black of Friends of Campbell Square, and all supplies were provided by state Rep. Joe Hohenstein and Sherwin-Williams Paint Store on Castor Avenue.

“It was easily socially distanced, it was outside, and allowed us to give back to the park and the city that is in need of some positivity,” Black said. “Working with state Rep. Joe Hohenstein and some of his staff allowed us to have one of the highest amount of volunteers ever.”
