Sips for Students

Fishtown Social Bar and Natural Wine Shop, 1525 Frankford Ave., in partnership with Fishtown District, will host Sips for Students, a series promoting the Liguori Academy Sponsor a Student initiative while highlighting local businesses.

The series will feature monthly tastings and pairings while presenting how to sponsor a student.

This month’s Sips for Students will feature a beer and cheese tasting with Evil Genius, on May 20, at 7 p.m.

The event will feature four house-selected Evil Genius beers and four cheeses.

Cost is $30.

The June Sips for Students will feature Wm Mulherin’s & Son.

Flea market

A flea market will be held outside the Richmond Library, 2987 Almond St., on Saturday, June 5.

Cost is $10 a spot. 

Vendors should bring their own tables. Folding chairs will be available to rent for $1.

Registration in advance is required.

Her Daughters Cafe will have a table with coffee and pastries available for purchase.

All proceeds from spots will go toward library programming.

American flag disposal ceremony

The veterans of Bridesburg Lawton VFW Post 2 and Boy Scout Troop 120 will conduct a flag disposal ceremony at the Post 2, 4638 Richmond St., on Saturday, June 12, at 11 a.m.

All veterans, friends and neighbors are invited to attend.  

Dirty, worn or damaged American flags may be dropped off at the Post 2 Canteen. 

The rain date for this event will be Sunday, June 13.

Outdoor yoga at Richmond Library

Richmond Library, 2987 Almond St., will host Outdoor Yoga on Saturdays, until June 26, from 11 a.m. to noon.

No yoga will be held on June 5.

No registration required. 

Participants should enter through the Almond Street side entrance and bring a yoga mat.

Cost is $3 per class.

Masks are required. ••

 

Richmond Library children programs

Outdoor Preschool Storytime will be held every Tuesday, beginning May 25, at 10:30 a.m.

Join Ms. Meghan in front of the library for stories, songs and fun at these in-person, outdoor storytimes.

Participants ages 2 and up must wear a mask and distance themselves from other groups. Space may be limited. 

Recommended for ages 4 and under with caregivers. Siblings welcome. 

Outdoor Read, Baby, Read Storytime will be held every Thursday, at 10:30 a.m.

Join Ms. Meghan in front of the library for lap time with stories, songs, rhymes and bounces at these in-person, outdoor storytimes.

For babies with caregivers. Siblings welcome. 

Read, Baby, Read is made possible by a grant from the William Penn Foundation.

Lutheran Settlement House farm stand

Lutheran Settlement House, 1340 Frankford Ave., will host a free farm stand and choice pantry every Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The farm stand will feature complimentary produce, meat, dairy, vegan options and a variety of shelf-stable canned goods.

Portside at Cherry Street Pier

Portside Arts Center upcoming kids and adult classes at Cherry Street Pier include:

Children’s Saturday classes on Saturdays, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Classes are for ages 4 to 10. Cost is $15 per class or $50 for four classes. 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. / Ages 4-10 / $15/class or $50 

Teen Portfolio Building workshop will be on Saturdays, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Classes are for ages 11 to 17. Cost is $60 for a 4-week session.

St. Hubert taking summer trip

The sixth annual St. Hubert Summer Fun Trip will take place on Tuesday, June 22.

The day will start with a one-hour ride on an Atlantic City cruise ship.

Next is a four-hour stay at Resorts Casino, with $10 back in slot cash.

The day will end with a sitdown dinner and wine tasting at Tomasello Winery, in Hammonton.

A bus will depart St. Hubert at 8:45 a.m. and return at about 9 p.m. Masks must be worn on the trip. Eating and drinking on the bus are prohibited, and there is no bathroom use. Temperatures will be taken as you enter the bus.

The cost is $90.

Port Richmondopoly spaces available

The Leprechaun Sports Association and Port Richmond Neighbors Association are selling advertising spaces for the 2021 Port Richmondopoly board game.

A local twist on the popular board game, Port Richmondopoly was first available in 2007 and sponsored by the former Our Lady Help of Christians School and parish.

The fundraiser will support sports programs offered by the Leprechauns and future programs organized by the Port Richmond Neighbors Associations.

Restaurant sponsors needed for community meals

Lutheran Settlement House, 1340 Frankford Ave., is seeking restaurants to sponsor its takeout-style community meals initiative.

Sponsors should provide meals to serve 50 people in individually portioned takeout containers. 

Volunteers are welcome to help distribute the meals, but are not required.

Community meals are distributed every third Thursday of the month, from 3 to 5 p.m.
