The Bridesburg Lawton VFW Post 2 celebrated Veterans Day with a memorial service on Thursday.
Friends, neighbors and fellow veterans gathered at the headquarters of Post 2, which has provided service for war veterans for over a century, in remembrance of all those who have served their country.
“The more than one and a half million members of VFW and its auxiliary celebrate and honor millions of American heroes,” said Sean Wayland, the chairman of Post 2 who served a tour in Iraq with the United States Army Reserve in 2008.
The ceremony included a flag-raising ceremony as well as a rifle salute to all service men and women. Attendees were also treated to light refreshments following the event.
“For everyone who served, there was no question about what they were fighting for,” Wayland said. “It was for their house, their home, their business, their farm, their village, town or city. It was for freedom.”
