The meeting, which was hosted by SOPO president John Kalicki, included crime updates from the 24th Police District as well as dialogue around a pair of zoning proposals.

Lt. Lisa Pittalouis, who recently returned to the Port Richmond area following a stint in the Northeast, provided the crime updates on behalf of the 24th District. Although no statistics were provided, she did urge residents to stay vigilant and also call 911 before posting about criminal activity on social media.

“Continue to look out for each other as Port Richmond residents do,” Pittalouis said.

The two zoning notices that were discussed were located on 2622 E. Allegheny Ave. and 3016-18 E. Thompson St.

The proposal for a two-story, two-family household on Allegheny with the basement and first floor available for commercial use and the second floor for residential use was approved by those who attended the meeting.

On the other hand, the proposal for a two-story rear addition as well as a roof deck for 15 living units on Thompson, which was proposed at SOPO’s December meeting, was initially rejected due to parking regulations. The plan was eventually approved in the meeting. The owner of the project also announced that any and all money earned from it will be donated to the Richmond Library, the Leprechauns Sports Association and the Boy Scouts.

The date for SOPO’s February meeting will be announced at a later date.
