Evil Genius Beer Company, the craft beer brand headquartered in Kensington, recently announced that it will be expanding its distribution west starting later this month.
The company will be teaming up with numerous wholesale partners that will see it expand into eastern and central Ohio, most notably Cleveland and Columbus, as well as the lower peninsula and other regions of Michigan.
“Our goal is to provide an entirely new category of beer to the masses,” said Evil Genius co-founder Luke Bowen in a press release. “Beer that not only delivers a great taste, but also evokes positive, nostalgic memories that make you feel good. We’ve been amazed at the response we’ve had over the past 10 years and can’t wait to introduce Evil Genius to new drinkers across the country.”
Since being founded in 2011, Evil Genius has released over 30 unique brews that are known for their witty, pop culture-inspired names. Notable releases include IPAs such as “Stacy’s Mom” and “There’s No Crying In Baseball” as well as “Purple Monkey Dishwasher,” a chocolate peanut butter porter.
Evil Genius has already expanded its business into New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island over the last few years. Bowen said that Ohio and Michigan have some of the best beer-drinking cities in the country with many customers who have been eager to have a steady stream of Evil Genius products in their area.
“We’ve had a lot of people asking for us to come to their state and we’re now at the stage that we can happily oblige them,” Bowen said. “We’re stoked to get on the shelves and into their hands.”
The company expects products to be available in time for Memorial Day in both states, with hopes to expand into other states throughout the year.
