Bingo on Aug. 13

St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, Trenton Avenue and Cumberland Street, will be having a bingo on Saturday, Aug. 13, from 1-4 p.m. Doors will open at noon. Packages are $20 and include lunch. Call 215-423-0792. 

Kensington High alumni luncheon

Bingo at St. Bart’s

St. Bartholomew Parish, 5600 Jackson St., will have bingo on Sunday, Aug. 21, in the hall in the back of the church. Bingo is held monthly, usually on the fourth Sunday of the month. Doors open at noon. Games begin at 1 p.m. Admission is $10 and includes 10 regular games, with special games, and 50/50 sold separately. Lunch and snacks are available for purchase. Parking is available in the back of the building. All are welcome. 

Holy Inn going to AC

Holy Innocents is sponsoring a casino trip on Monday, Aug. 15. A bus will depart L Street and Hunting Park Avenue at 9:30 a.m. There will be a Mass at noon at St. Nicholas of Tolentine in Atlantic City, followed by a procession to a blessing of the sea at 1:15 p.m. There will be a $15 slot package at Resorts Casino before the bus departs at 5. Music fest lineup set

The Pennypack Music Festival will take place this year at Cannstatter’s, 9130 Academy Road. Admission is free. There are picnic tables, but you can bring your own chairs. No pets or outside food, drink or coolers. Food and beverages are available for purchase. Shows are Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Gate opens at 5 p.m.

All about the Beatles

Congregations of Shaare Shamayim will hold a Zoom program, The Beatles – From Liverpool to Abbey Road, on Thursday, Aug. 18, at 7:30 p.m. Listen to your favorite Beatles songs and join ‘60s rock historian and Beatles scholar and storyteller Vinnie Bruno. Farm stand at Jeanes

Virtual bingo

The Sisterhood of Congregations of Shaare Shamayim is hosting virtual bingo on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $36 per person and includes two cards for eight games of bingo. Dawejko to fight at Parx

Veteran heavyweight fighter Joey Dawejko (21-10-4, 12 KOs), of Tacony, will return to the ring on Thursday, Sept. 1, at 7 p.m., when he faces Mike Marshall (6-3-1, 4 KOs), of Danbury, Connecticut, in an eight-round bout at Parx Casino.

Joe Hand Promotions is handling the card.

In a four-round middleweight bout, Soslan Alborov (0-1) will take on Brendan O’Callaghan (2-1, 1 KO). Daiyaan Butt (10-2, 5 KOs) will be returning in a six-round super-lightweight bout. Former Pennsylvania Golden Gloves champion Karl Wylie (1-0) will compete in a four-round lightweight contest.

Car show Aug. 13

Snapbox Self-Storage, 1 Franklin Mills Blvd., will host a car show on Saturday, Aug. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be food trucks, a DJ, raffles and trophies. The cost to register a car is $20. Proceeds benefit the Superhero Project, which aids families with children in the neonatal intensive care unit. Driver refresher course available

Congregations of Shaare Shamayim, 9768 Verree Road, will host an AARP Drivers 1 Day Refresher Course on Wednesday, Aug. 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sign up for this Refresher Course if you have taken the Two Day Driver Safety Course in the last three years. There are no tests to pass and most insurance companies provide a discount for completing the course. The cost is $20 for AARP members; $25 for non-AARP members. There will be a small break for lunch. A dairy lunch is permitted. Payment to AARP is needed to hold your spot. Call the synagogue at 215-677-1600. 

Ukrainian festival Aug. 28

The Ukrainian Folk Festival will be held on Sunday, Aug. 28, from noon to 8 p.m. at the Ukrainian American Sport Center — Tryzub, County Line and Lower State roads, Horsham. There will be art, crafts, live music, dance, food, drinks, vendors and live reenactments. Admission is $15 ($5 donated to the relief of war victims in Ukraine). Kids under 15 are free. Trips scheduled

Two excursions are on tap as part of the Starr Tours At KleinLife program.

An Aug. 10 trip is scheduled to Columbia, Lancaster County, to visit the National Watch and Clock Museum. It also features admission to the Turkey Hill Experience, lunch at Bully’s Restaurant and roundtrip motorcoach accommodations. Cost is $155 per person for adults and $105 per child.

The Castles of New York multi-day vacation runs from Sept. 11-14 and features an upstate New York experience showcasing the countryside, the St. Lawrence River and three castles. Flea market at Roosevelt Mall

The Roosevelt Mall Flea Market will run outdoors in the parking lot at 2445 Cottman Ave., every Sunday through November. The market runs 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 150 vendors will be on hand featuring new and used items, household goods, electronics and all types of general merchandise. One parking space is $30. Flea market

A flea market will be held at Almond and Cumberland streets, behind First Class Daycare, in the parking lot every Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Portside Arts Center classes at Cherry Street Pier

Portside Arts Center at Cherry Street Pier, 121 N. Columbus Blvd., will host kids and adult classes.

Children’s Saturday class will be held on Saturdays, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The class is for ages 4 to 10. Cost is $15 per class or four classes for $55.

Teen Portfolio Building Workshop will be held on Saturdays, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for ages 11 to 17. Cost is $20 per class or four for $70.

Family Art Night will be held every first Friday of the month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for all ages. Cost is $25 per family.
