One year after opening its flagship location in Northern Liberties, Bagels and Co. recently announced it will be opening six new locations over the course of the next few months throughout the city.
Operated by Glu Hospitality, the company’s first new shop in Fishtown at 1317 Frankford Ave. is set to open sometime later this month. Additional locations in Brewerytown, Rittenhouse, Midtown Village, Center City and on Temple’s campus will also open their doors by the end of the year.
Bagels and Co. was established after Glu felt the need to reconsider its approach to hospitality following the closing of its nightlife venues due to the pandemic. It currently offers, among other things, more than a dozen Brooklyn-style bagel options, coffee courtesy of D’Amico Coffee Roasters and various breakfast and lunch products.
“We love Northern Liberties and have invested over the years in making it one of the best places in Philly to eat, drink, live and work,” said Derek Gibbons, a co-owner of Glu Hospitality, in a press release. “Our Northern Liberties shop and flagship location is so busy we needed to expand to Fishtown – just a mile away – to be able to serve our customers crossing Girard. With that expansion, we saw a demand in neighborhoods all over Philadelphia.”
Gibbons mentioned that the company is aiming to open up as many as 10 additional locations in the city within the next year.
“We also have gotten requests to bring Bagels and Co. to other states – which is exciting and crazy,” Gibbons said. “We are so thankful for the neighborhood support in Northern Liberties, and we can’t wait to meet our new neighbors in Fishtown – and beyond.”
In addition to bagels and coffee, the company will be adding new items, including breakfast bowls, frozen latte, frozen lemonade, overnight oats, muffins and cookies, to its menu.
All Bagels and Co. locations offer indoor and outdoor seating as well as take-out and pick-up service. Online ordering is available on all major delivery apps.
