Glu Hospitality’s Bagels and Co. opened last week at 1317 Frankford Ave. in Fishtown, with free bagels and cream cheese on Friday and free coffee on Saturday.

This second location follows the original location that opened a year ago in the Piazza, 1001 N. 2nd St. in Northern Liberties.

The new location consists of 1,700 square feet inside, with seating for 16 inside and 12 outside. For the Fishtown location, the Fishtown signature exclusive lunch sandwich will be the Frankford Ave – and it will feature jerk turkey, pepper jack cheese, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato and chipotle aioli – served on a choice of bagel or bread. The exclusive Fishtown breakfast sandwich will feature choice of bagel, beyond sausage, just egg with choice of vegan cheese.

Hours for Fishtown and Northern Liberties are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., seven days a week.

Co-owners Derek Gibbons and Tim Lu announced that the popular bagel, coffee, lunch and deli shop will now open new locations at 3000 Master St. in Brewerytown, 1431 Cecil B. Moore Ave. on the Temple campus, and 100 N. 18th St., 1526 Sansom St. and 17 S. 11th St. in Center City.

Bagels and Co. has held the prices during the pandemic so prices remain the same as the first day the Northern Liberties shop opened.

“We love Northern Liberties and have invested over the years in making it one of the best places in Philly to eat, drink, live and work. Our Northern Liberties shop and flagship location is so busy we needed to expand to Fishtown – just a mile away – to be able to serve our customers crossing Girard,” Gibbons said.

On Small Business Saturday, on Saturday, Nov. 26, Bagels and Co. will offer a free $10 gift card when you purchase a $50 gift card, plus a free small hot/iced coffee when you show your receipt ($20 or more) from shopping in a local small business in Fishtown, Kensington or Northern Liberties.

“Fishtown and Northern Liberties are two of the hottest and fastest-growing food neighborhoods in Philadelphia right now,” Gibbons said. “We loved the neighborhood, our neighbors and working with the Fishtown District and fellow businesses during the opening of Izakaya by Yanaga. The location came on the main strip along Girard Avenue and we couldn’t say no. We see a ton of foot traffic to Northern Liberties from this area and customers have requested time and time again for us to bring Bagels and Co. across Girard. We are thrilled to expand our footprint in Fishtown and hopefully we will have more news to come.”

Bagels and Co. — https://www.restaurantji.com/pa/philadelphia/bagels-and-co-2/ — will debut its first winter drink menu, including:

• Candy Cane Mocha – Peppermint and Mocha

• ChaiNog – Eggnog and Chai

• Christmas Morning Latte – White Mocha, Chai, Cinnamon Sprinkles

• Peppermint Bark Latte – Peppermint, White Mocha, Mocha

• Eggnog Latte – Eggnog and Espresso

• Apple Cider – Cinnamon, Apple Cinnamon, Cinnamon Sprinkles

• Peanut Butter White Mocha – Peanut butter and white mocha

“We are so thankful for the neighborhood support in Northern Liberties, and we can’t wait to meet our new neighbors in Fishtown – and beyond,” Gibbons said. ••
