Cake & Joe is expanding to a second location in Fishtown after a successful two-year run at its original location on East Moyamensing Avenue. The specialty coffee and dessert shop is scheduled to open after New Year’s at 2012 Frankford Ave. in Fishtown.

Proprietors Sarah Qi and Trista Tang’s vision for a specialty coffee and dessert shop has had a very successful run in Philadelphia’s Pennsport neighborhood. Their follow-up venture brings their unique offerings to Fishtown.

“We’re very excited to expand to the northern part of the city so we can reach more customers and be more accessible to those who don’t live near Pennsport,” Qi said. “We’ve had a very successful two years, and now we’re looking forward to serving a neighborhood where the restaurant scene is one of the most popular this city has ever seen.”

Occupying a 1,200-square-foot space that will be open during breakfast and lunch hours from Tuesday through Sunday, Cake & Joe of Fishtown will feature cakes, beverages and house-made sandwiches from Chef Sophia Morris. The beverage fare will feature freshly roasted coffee from Evan Inatome’s Elixr Coffee, a first for a Fishtown business.

“We’re also very excited to serve Elixr coffee, another beloved Philly brand,” Qi said.

The Elixr brand is served at the company’s four house locations across the city.

The new Cake & Joe includes a main downstairs area that is ideal as a work/study area. An upstairs area with chairs and tables for dining and work is also available for private lunches and dinners. The space can be rented out with advance notice, with facilities available for business or personal use.
