Get your DIY fried pickle kit

Fishtown Pickle Project co-owners Mike Sicinski and Niki Toscani have already introduced several pickle-related items and initiatives that the world has seemingly never seen before.

Those include the Feast of the Seven Pickles, a Pickle Party Mix featuring seven different types of pickles in one jar and Playa Pickles (pickled tropical fruit to enjoy on the beach).

Now, the entrepreneurs are bringing DIY Fried Pickle Kits to the market.

There are two different kits available for purchase: Original, which features Philly Dilly Deli Pickles with­­ pepper aioli style dip; and Spicy, featuring Habanero Dill Pickles with cool ranch dip.

Both kits include tempura mix and (optional for cooking) panko crumbs as well as spices needed to whip up the dip. Directions will be provided to make your own pickles three ways: Tempura-battered and fried, breaded and fried, or air-fried. Frying oil and dip base not included. Additionally, Sicinski and Toscani are including a video tutorial on how to make their fried pickles, three ways, at home. Kits will cost $35 each with free shipping.

“People are always looking for new ways to enjoy our pickles,” said Niki Toscani. “Fried pickles are delicious and versatile. I discovered that I love tempura-battered pickles most, but Mike is a fan of breaded pickles. We’re trying to simplify this tasty dish, while giving people options to make it their own. We are giving customers everything they need to make these, and all they need to do is open a box, follow simple instructions, and enjoy.”
