Aaron Bashir, Republican candidate for city controller, held a fundraiser on Saturday in Germantown.

Bashir faces Democrat Christy Brady.

Bashir is running on an anti-corruption plank. He faults 72 years of liberal Democrat leadership in Philadelphia with failing to solve problems such as the drug crisis in Kensington, failing schools, poverty, taxes, declining quality of life, a ballooning budget and crimes such as homicides, catalytic converter thefts and carjackings.

So far, there have been 205 murders this year, after more than 500 in 2021 and ‘22.

As for the campaign, Bashir plans to focus on voter registration and reach out to all Republicans to send them mail-in ballot applications. ••
