Celebrity cook and South Philly native Steve Martorano has opened Martorano’s Prime, an Italian-American steakhouse, at Rivers Casino.

Online reservations can be made now at OpenTable.com.

Hours of operation for Martorano’s Prime are Thursday through Saturday, from 6 to 10 p.m. Last seating will be at 9:45 p.m., and the bar will remain open until 12:30 a.m. The main restaurant seats about 200 people, with an additional 24-seat private dining room. Reservations are suggested but not required.

Martorano’s Prime is the cook’s first Philadelphia restaurant in more than 30 years. Unique to Martorano’s Prime is an exclusive chef’s table, located just inside the kitchen in full view of all the culinary action. This up-close, personal and immersive experience will give guests an inside look at the Martorano’s dining experience.

The chef’s table will feature a customized tasting menu, showcasing the restaurant’s signature dishes, seasonal ingredients and techniques. The chef will personally present and explain each course, answer questions and provide insights into the culinary creativity, technique and artistry of the kitchen team as it prepares and plates dishes.

“I can’t wait for Philadelphia to taste home-cooked meals from my family recipes,” Martorano said. “From the second you walk in the door, you’ll know you’re getting old-school Italian cooking. It’ll be an experience you won’t forget, from beginning to end.”

Gourmet magazine called Martorano’s meatballs the best in the world. Old-school Hollywood movies are on screens throughout the restaurant and hip music plays in the background. Dessert is available.

Since May, Martorano’s Sicilian Slice has been located in the casino’s Marketplace, just steps from the main restaurant.

In addition to Sicilian Slice, a Lilly Cakes grab-and-go dessert outlet is coming soon to the Marketplace.

“Martorano’s Prime, Sicilian Slice and Lilly Cakes take our restaurant offerings to the next level,” said Eric Althaus, general manager of Rivers Casino. “If you haven’t been to Rivers Casino lately, make your way to Fishtown — the pasta, pizza and pastries are fresh and hot.”
