Do tequilas play a role in your life? Does a good mescal make your day better?

If so, you’re in luck, as a total celebration of the spirits return to the Northern Liberties Restaurant Row on Sept. 11. Añejo Philly presents the “For the Love of Philly Agave Tasting Party,” a special celebration and tasting party for all the tequila lovers, pros and newbies in the Philadelphia area.

In the event’s first-ever fall edition, the signature Northern Liberties Mexican restaurant and bar will be turned over for a full night of samples, specialty cocktails, plus taco stations brought to you by brand ambassadors and other experts. The annual Northern Liberties tradition has expanded to its largest event yet.

Añejo Philly, 1001 N. 2nd St., offers one of Philadelphia’s largest selections of tequilas and mezcals – and this event is created for both the newbie looking to learn about the spirit and for experts who want to take their knowledge to the next level. Añejo bar and kitchen staff will pair cocktails and food for the night.

Tickets are on sale that include samplings of the tequilas and mezcals, as well as complimentary special food made for the Sept. 11 event.

Guests will learn from experts and brand ambassadors about the production process and techniques of each spirit.

“For the Love of Agave is our way of sharing what we are most passionate about with our community,” Añejo general manager Jessica Simms said. “The tasting celebration is a fun opportunity to celebrate and sample an array of agave spirits and bring together our local community with something for novices and newbies to experts and aficionados.”

For the Love of Philly Agave Tasting Party is now a semi-annual tradition in Northern Liberties for tequila and mezcal lovers. The event started last year in 2022 and grows this year to offer the largest selection yet.

“After selling out the winter event earlier this year in record time, we decided to expand and add a fall event with even more producers and expressions to try,” Simms said. “We are excited to see this signature event grow – and to offer one of the most in-depth tequila and mezcal events in the region.”

A love of Mexico’s signature spirits is helpful but not required to enjoy the event.

“Whether you are a seasoned pro looking for that new favorite agave spirit to sip on, or a newbie trying to get back into the agave spirit world since that last bad hangover from college, we got you covered.” Simms said.

All expressions of tequila and mezcal to sample are included in the price of the ticket, as well as complimentary food. Tickets are on sale now at anejophilly.com. ••
