The St. Hubert Alumnae Association will hold its second Women’s Wellness 5K Run/1 Mile Family Fun Walk/Virtual Run on Saturday, Sept. 23, at Pennypack Park, off Rhawn Street.

Proceeds will support student wellness.

The event will include refreshments, fruit, a goody bag, a balloon wall and a DJ.

St. Hubert president Lizanne Pando will be on site, along with the cross country team.

City elections commissioner chairwoman Lisa Deeley (class of 1984) will sing the Star-Spangled Banner.

Alumnae who are not running are encouraged to attend to support wellness and community.

Anyone who is on hand is welcome to tailgate.

Race director Denise Krenski was pleased with how the first run/walk went.

“I was really happy. It was more than I’d imagined. I love to be able to use space in the neighborhood where we grew up,” she said.

The start and finish will be at “Little City,” off Rhawn Street, near Holmehurst Avenue.

“It’s a great running path,” Krenski said.

Krenski, joined again by co-race director Kristen Lepkowski (her fellow 1991 graduate), said shirts will go to the first 150 entrants.

Run/walk registration, information and sponsorship opportunities are available at Facebook.com/StHubertAlumnaeAssociation.

Registration is $30, or $10 for kids under 12.

On-site registration for the event begins at 7:30 a.m.

The race begins at 8:30 a.m., and the walk begins at 9.

“We’d love to double our numbers from last year,” Krenski said.

Medals will be presented to overall male and female champions and to top three male and female finishers in various age brackets.

There is a twist this year, as participants can complete the run virtually.

Virtual participants can run anytime through Sept. 23 and email a screenshot of their smart watch to note the time and distance completed.

“A big addition is the virtual 5K. We have Bambies all over the globe,” Krenski said.

To become a sponsor, email [email protected].

Monetary gifts can be sent on Venmo to @SH-Alumnae or checks can be mailed to St. Hubert Alumnae Association, 7320 Torresdale Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19136.

Race results will be available at www.pretzelcitysports.com. ••
