It is the holiday you probably didn’t know you needed. Nonetheless it is coming soon and the Northern Liberties Business Improvement District is jumping in with both feet to celebrate.

On March 16, the first Northern Liberties Espresso Martini Crawl will celebrate National Espresso Martini Day with a five-hour festival featuring 14 restaurants and bars on restaurant row.

The 14 venues will be competing for the best Espresso Martini and at least one food offering featuring coffee or espresso that can be paired with the martini offerings.

Each participating restaurant will offer at least one espresso martini in the $8, $10 or $12 price range, plus a food dish. In addition, brunch, lunch and special menus will be available at select restaurants.

“In the wake of the most successful Northern Liberties Restaurant Week to date, the Northern Liberties Business Improvement District is thrilled to continue the momentum by showcasing the neighborhood’s unparalleled local cocktail scene through its first Espresso Martini Crawl,” NLBID Executive Director Cassidy Martin said. “This event showcases several establishments that are staples in the region’s drink landscape.

Based in one of the fastest-growing neighborhoods in Philadelphia, the Northern Liberties Restaurant Row has emerged out of the pandemic as one of the most vital entertainment destinations in the city and a magnet for continued growth of its vibrant neighborhood.

The latest offering from the NLBID will showcase just another way Northern Liberties has become a destination for new construction for restaurants, businesses and residence areas.

“This Espresso Martini Crawl will have something for everyone — from classic concoctions to avant-garde interpretations and out-of-the-box creations,” Martin said. “We hope for the Espresso Martini Crawl to become a neighborhood tradition to highlight Northern Liberties’ classic establishments, evolving talent and magnetic appeal to locals and visitors alike.”
