Evil Genius Beer Company is throwing a 4/20-themed block party at its taproom at 1727 N. Front St. in Fishtown on April 19.

The celebration will tip its cap to the classic stoner holiday by introducing its latest brewery offering called The Apex of The Vortex of Joint Engineering.

The hazy IPA is brewed with pineapple, which pairs nicely with the Pineapple Express theme.

The new offering will be released on April 19 in 32-ounce cans, and stock is hyper limited with only 100 units available.

The following day, a Saturday, the Evil Genius 4/20 Block Party will run from noon to 6 p.m. outside the taproom.

The block party is pet friendly, family friendly and open to the public.

Luke Bowen and Trevor Hayward, the Philadelphia-based brewers who founded Evil Genius in 2011, are heavily leaning into a 4/20 theme inspired by the nostalgic, stoner-comedies of the ’90s and early 2000s like Harold & Kumar, Dude, Where’s My Car? and, of course, Pineapple Express.

“We all remember the late nights hanging out on the couch with our friends watching these hilarious movies,” Hayward said. “We set out to create a beer that invokes the same feeling and pay homage to these awesome, cult-classic films.”

Live music from No Man’s Band will kick off at 2 p.m.

Food offerings from the Munchy Machine food truck and a variety of local vendors will be on hand to lend a celebratory air to the proceedings.

For those that can’t be on hand for the Pineapple Express celebration, Evil Genius will present Queen Bee vs. RiRi: Beyonce & Rihanna Drag Brunch on April 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in honor of the release of Beyonce’s new album Cowboy Carter.

The entire weekend of celebrations is very much on-brand for the Evil Genius Beer Company, which fully embraces its motto of “Very Silly Names for Very Serious Beers.”
