Philadelphia’s Fishtown neighborhood is buzzing with excitement as Shake Shack prepares to open its doors at 1359 Frankford Ave.

This highly anticipated event is a major piece of Fishtown news, with the fast-casual favorite set to welcome guests starting Sunday, December 22.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, December 20, marked the official countdown to this new addition to the area’s dining scene.

The Fishtown new restaurant brings Shake Shack’s signature burgers, fries, and shakes to one of Philadelphia’s most dynamic neighborhoods.

This location is the 15th Shake Shack in Pennsylvania and the 6th in Philadelphia, which shows the chain’s growing popularity in the region.

The new restaurant is part of the Fishtown Collective, a mixed-use development transforming the area.

The 61-unit apartment building, expected to be completed by fall 2024, will also house a Sweetgreen and another business yet to be announced.

The project, situated on what was once a parking lot, represents a broader shift in the neighborhood’s landscape.

While many residents are thrilled about having a Shake Shack in their community, others voice concerns over the challenges rapid development brings.

Rising rents, reduced parking, and the displacement of small businesses are among the issues some locals have raised.

Putting these hurdles aside, the opening of this new Shake Shack highlights Fishtown’s steady rise as a go-to spot for dining and entertainment.
