DreamWorld Bakes officially opened its doors on January 2, 2025, at 2400 Coral Street in East Kensington.

And the grand opening was nothing short of magical.

One of the main highlights was the complimentary Baby Spice cake bites handed out to the first 100 lucky visitors.

These decadent little creations had cardamom cake layers, passionfruit curd, mango-chai mousse, and a heavenly tonka bean Italian meringue buttercream.

It was a sweet start to what promises to be a beloved neighborhood bakery, alongside the perfect way to welcome East Kensington to the world of DreamWorld Bakes.

Ashley Huston is the kind of baker who turns dreams into reality—literally.

As a self-taught culinary artist, she first gained recognition for crafting the show-stopping cake for Patti LaBelle’s 80th birthday.

But her journey didn’t start in the spotlight; it began humbly in her home kitchen during the pandemic, where she turned her side hustle into a passion-fueled enterprise.

What started as a small operation whipping up treats has now transformed into one of Philadelphia’s most cherished bakeries.

“Opening a bakery has always been my dream,” said Huston, recently named Philadelphia Magazine’s 2024 Best of Philly baker.

“DreamWorld Bakes is my love letter to Philly and proof that with enough hard work and a sprinkle of magic, anything is possible.”

The bakery features all kinds of delights, from bespoke cakes and seasonal pastries to a café menu filled with coffee and espresso drinks.

Since the bakery is located near popular attractions such as the Philadelphia Kimmel Center, it’s a perfect spot to grab a treat before attending a performance.

Failing that, you could always treat yourself to a cake after going to one of the incredible restaurants near the Kimmel Center.

It’s also worth mentioning that Baker Willow Eagono expressed gratitude for Huston’s guidance, sharing how working alongside her has been inspiring and educational.

And with its fresh and locally sourced ingredients, captivating atmosphere, and deep connection to the community, this new bakery is a must-visit for anyone in Philadelphia.
