Penn State New Kensington fans had plenty to cheer about as their team battled to an 86-79 victory over Penn State Beaver in a high-intensity matchup at the Athletic Center.

The night belonged to Ta’Rasi Means, who hit a major career milestone, surpassing the coveted 1,000-point mark in his collegiate career.

Means showcased exactly why he’s a cornerstone of the team, pouring in 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting and staying steady at the free-throw line, knocking down 5-of-6 attempts.

His versatile game was on full display with two assists, three steals, and three rebounds, and it proved he’s as much a defensive threat as he is an offensive powerhouse.

While both teams were on fire, New Kensington was downright unstoppable.

They lit up the scoreboard, shooting a scorching 68.4% from the field, knocking down 53.8% of their threes, and sinking 77.1% of their free throws.

Beaver kept pace, hitting 64.4% from the field, but their struggles at the charity stripe—just 63.6% efficiency—proved costly.

On the other side, Penn State Beaver’s first-year standout Ronyell Coston led the charge with 21 points.

Third-year Trevor Franklin contributed eight points and dished out three assists, while Jiyhad Bobbitt came off the bench with 10 points, providing a much-needed scoring boost.

But they weren’t a match for Penn State New Kensington––New Kensington’s offense fired on all cylinders, with six players scoring at least six points.

Aubrey Feaster II matched Means’ 22-point output while hauling eight rebounds and dishing out four assists, a true force on both ends.

Donaven Johnson came off the bench ready to make an impact, racking 18 points, including two clutch three-pointers that helped keep the momentum rolling.

The intensity of the game spilled over into some heated moments, resulting in three technical fouls.

Feaster II and Johnson each picked up one for Penn State New Kensington, while Penn State Beaver’s Brandon Rue also found himself in the referee’s book. With this win, New Kensington, a basketball university to watch, continues to bring great results, and it’s safe to say they have set the bar high––we’re in for an exciting rest of the season.
