The Drexel University Dragons are officially on fire. Behind a career-high five-goal performance from Kate Quinn and a milestone day for goalkeeper Jenika Cuocco, No. 23 Drexel muscled past Towson University 12-9 at Vidas Field to extend their win streak to eight—matching a program-best stretch from 2002.

This college lacrosse clash opened with fireworks, as Towson wasted no time jumping ahead 4-2 in the first quarter. Milana Zizakovic, who has been red-hot of late, sparked the early surge with a tough finish through contact. She finished with four goals and an assist, continuing her multi-goal streak to four games. But Drexel had the answer, and her name was Quinn.

After trading early punches, the Dragons unleashed a six-goal second-quarter barrage. Quinn fueled the run with a natural hat trick, slicing through the defense with confidence and precision. Bea Buckley added a pair, and Cuocco turned away nearly everything Towson threw her way—six of her seven total saves came in the first half. When the halftime horn sounded, Drexel had flipped the script and built an 8-4 lead.

Towson didn’t fold. The Tigers clawed back in the third behind Zizakovic and Luca DeMaio, cutting the deficit to two. Gabby Bjugan and Savannah Safchuck chipped in timely scores, but Drexel’s firepower proved too much to contain. Quinn struck twice more in the fourth, including a lightning-quick finish off a wraparound feed from Marano and a slicing right-wing blast that put the Dragons up five with under four minutes to go.

Towson closed strong with a pair of late goals, but it wasn’t enough to derail Drexel’s momentum. The Dragons outshot the Tigers 33-23 and made their possessions count, showing poise and purpose from the second quarter on.

Cuocco’s milestone moment—reaching 500 career saves—adds another layer of history to the day. The veteran netminder continues to anchor a defense that’s peaking at the right time.

Now 9-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play, Drexel University has all the markings of a team ready to make serious noise this college lacrosse season. They’ll return to Vidas Field on April 13 to take on Hofstra, riding a winning streak and a wave of confidence.
