Watch Party PHL is officially launching its donation campaign to build Philadelphia’s first-ever women’s sports bar. On Monday, the organization revealed its $40,000 fundraising goal with donations being accepted through Tuesday, July 8.

In April, Watch Party PHL celebrated its one-year anniversary during the NCAA women’s national championship game with more than 350 fans in attendance. Since its inception, Watch Party PHL has hosted more than 40 watch party events with attendance at some events peaking at 500 people. Watch Party PHL founder Jen Leary feels like the city is ready for its own permanent sports bar to call home for around the clock women’s athletics.

“This isn’t just about a bar; it’s about creating a much-needed dedicated space where women’s sports are celebrated, amplified, and given the spotlight they deserve,” Leary said. “This will be a groundbreaking and important endeavor for Philadelphia, and we need your help to make it a reality.”

The announcement was coupled with a promotional video featuring local supporters and community leaders including Alex Sykes, the lead advocate for WNBA expansion to Philadelphia.

Watch Party PHL also spearheads advocacy for professional women’s sports teams in Philadelphia. The WNBA and the NWSL are expanding, and Watch Party PHL believes the support is big enough locally to extend Philly sports culture to women’s athletics.
