The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that roadway and bridge construction are planned next week on U.S. 1 under a $116 million project to reconstruct, widen, and improve a three-mile section of U.S. 1 in 1 Bensalem and Middletown townships, Bucks County.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Monday, September 8, through Friday, September 12, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a periodic lane closure will be in place on U.S. 1 in both directions between Fairhill Avenue and the Route 132 (Street Road) Interchange for pavement marking installation.
- Monday, September 8, through Friday, September 12, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, lane closures will be in place on U.S. 1 in both directions between Fairhill Avenue and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange for bridge deck sealing.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather-dependent.
The work is part of PennDOT’s U.S. 1/RC2 contract that will reconstruct and widen U.S. 1 from south of the Rockhill Drive Interchange to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange.
